The Brazilian Communication Comission 2 – Radiocommunications (CBC2) has the rule to coordinate the participation and brazilian positions in the international entities that deals with radiocommunications issues.
In the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the CBC2 acts specifically in the Radiocommunications sector (ITU-R), including the Radiocommunication Advisory Group (RAG), the Study Groups (SGs), the Radiocommunication Assembly – RA and the World Radiocommunication Conference – WRC. Besides that, in the American Region, the CBC2 also participates in the Permanent Consultative Committee II of the Inter-American Telecommunication Commission (CITEL), and in the Sub Working Group 1 - Communications (SGT-1) of Mercosur, dealing with the aspects related to the radiocommunications theme and defending the Brazilian interests in the region.
CBC2 acting themes:
- Development and improvement of engineering, radiomonitoring and spectrum management techniques’
- efficient use of the spectrum and sharing among radiocommunications networks;
- spectrum management methodologies and economic strategies related to its use;
- electromagnetic compatibility and human exposure to electromagnetic fields;
- fundamentals, models and techniques of electromagnetic wave propagation;
- studies and definitions about telecommunications networks associated with mobile and fixes services, implemented by terrestrial and satellite infrastructure;
- studies and definitions about the mobile maritime service, including the Global Maritime Distress and Safety Service (GMDSS), the aeronautical mobile service and the radiodetermination service;
- studies and definitions about the broadcasting service, including the best ways to us the spectrum, applications and technical evolutions;
- Internet of Things (IoT) e its applications related to radiocommunication;
- technologies evolution follow-up, converging services and best use of the spectrum;
- electromagnetic signals systems and transmission and reception patterns; and
- remote sensing systems and radioastronomy.
The CBC2 consists of the following Rapporteurs Groups (GRRs):
- GRR 1: Strategic issues and preparation for the World Radiocommunication Conference
- GRR 2: Spectrum Management and Propagation
- GRR 3: Scientific, Maritime Mobile and Aeronautic Mobile services
- GRR 4A: Satellite Technical Items – Fixed-satellite Service (FSS) and Broadcasting-satellite Service (BSS)
- GRR 4B: Satellite Regulatory Items and Space Sustainability
- GRR 4C: Satellite Technical Items – Mobile-satellite Service (MSS) and Radio-determination Satellite Service (RDSS)
