Ministry of Justice and Public Security coordinates the Operation Light in Childhood 6
Brasilia, 02/18/2020 – With the objective of identifying perpetrators of abuse and sexual exploitation crimes, it was launched, on Tuesday (18), the Operation Light in Childhood 6. Coordinated by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), The Operation has the participation of the Civil Police from 12 states and law enforcement agencies from Colombia, the United States, Paraguay and Panama.
During this 6th stage, in Brazil and in 4 different countries, search warrants for files containing content related to crimes of sexual exploitation against children and adolescents were executed.
The details of the Operation will be presented at a press conference at 11am at the MJSP building.
Operation Light in Childhood 6 is supported by the US Embassy in Brazil through the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement-ICE, in providing courses, sharing best practices and training courses that subsidized the five phases of the operation.
In Brazil, the penalty for those who store such content ranges from 1 to 4 years in prison, 3 to 6 years in prison for sharing, and 4 to 8 years in prison for producing content related to crimes of sexual exploitation.
