The challenge of quality education for all: Education in Brazil

This document was prepared to evaluate the progress of education in Brazil as an input for the Brazilian participation in the 5th Ministerial Assembly to review the Education for All Program, to be held in the city of Cairo, Egypt, between the 19th and the 21st of December, 2003.

It presents an overview of the state of art of education in the country, pointing out at the main challenges for the government in order to be able to comply with the goal set by the Federal Constitution, that is, provide quality education for all Brazilians, regardless race-ethnicity, gender, religious or income.
