The Brazilian National Treasury granted a mandate to banks which will support the inaugural sustainable sovereign issuance
The Brazilian National Treasury has granted a conditional mandate to Itaú BBA, J.P. Morgan, and Santander to assist its team with the inaugural sustainable sovereign issuance. The banks will provide technical assistance on the revision process of the Brazilian Sovereign Sustainable Financing Framework which will constitute a guide for such financing. In addition, the banks will assist with the structuring of Brazil’s inaugural sustainable issuance.
Sovereign sustainable bonds are public debt instruments backed by Federal Government`s budgetary programs for sustainable development and defined as eligible under the Framework, including initiatives and projects associated with environmental or social themes.
During the process of elaborating the Framework and structuring the inaugural sustainable sovereign issuance, the National Treasury will continue monitoring market conditions for potential traditional issuances of external debt.
