Presentation
The Amazon Dialogues will bring together, between the 4th and 6th of August 2023, at the Hangar Centro de Convenções in Belém (PA), a set of initiatives organized by the civil society with the aim of guiding the formulation of new strategies for the region. Such initiatives involve representatives of social movements, academia, research centers and government agencies, from Brazil and other Amazonian countries.
The event will be part of the Amazon Summit program, which will run until August 9 in the capital of Pará, and its results will be presented by civil society representatives to the leaders gathered at the Summit.
The activities will be divided between plenary sessions (organized by the Federal Government, with broad social participation) and self-organized activities by civil society entities, academia, research centers and government agencies.
The reconstruction of public policies for the Amazon region is one of the priorities announced by President Lula, and the Amazon Summit will be an important milestone in this regard, representing Brazil's most relevant international initiative in the national territory in 2023.
The Brazilian Federal Government understands that social participation is a central element for promoting the sustainable and integrated development of the different Amazons, with social inclusion, responsibility and climate justice.
