The Brazilian government was pleased to announce that the governments of several countries have authorized Brazil to export new agricultural products.
Authorities from the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), which includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, have approved the export of bananas and walnuts from Brazil to that market. This year, Brazil exported agricultural products worth more than USD 1.3 billion to the EEU.
In addition, Brazilian agribusiness will have new opportunities in Saudi Arabia, which has confirmed authorization for Brazil to export yerba mate and macadamia nuts to that country. In 2024, Brazilian agricultural exports to the Saudi market exceeded USD$ 2.3 billion.
The Thai government, for its part, has allowed Brazil to export fishmeal and fish oil, which have a high protein and energy value and are used in a variety of industries. From January to November 2024, the country imported over USD 2.7 billion in agricultural products from Brazil.
These negotiations reflect the Brazilian government's efforts to diversify its export portfolio and strengthen trade ties with various partners. The market openings also show the high level of international trust in Brazil's sanitary and phytosanitary control systems.
With the announcements, Brazilian agribusiness will have 221 market openings by 2024, totaling 299 new business opportunities since the beginning of 2023.
These results are the fruit of joint work between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Ministério da Agricultura e Pecuária /MAPA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministério das Relações Exteriores /MRE).
