Brazil’s Federal Government, through its Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock [Ministério da Agricultura e Pecuária/Mapa] and Federal Data Processing Service [Serviço Federal de Processamento de Dados/Serpro], launched on Thursday, December 19, the first platform focused on qualifying the Brazilian agricultural sector: the Agro Brasil + Sustentável Platform [Plataforma Agro Brasil + Sustentável].
The platform, which is free to access via the Gov.br login, integrates official government data and information provided by the market — such as certifications issued by compliance assessment institutions. This solution helps producers meet domestic and foreign market socio-environmental requirements.
The technology is being launched alongside socio-environmental verification services for properties and qualification for Brazil’s Harvest Plan [Plano Safra].
NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY — According to the Secretary of Innovation, Sustainable Development, Irrigation and Cooperativism Pedro Neto, the platform is foremost an instrument for national sovereignty, and will be continuously improved to keep up with changes in the demands of the domestic and international markets. “With this sovereignty instrument in hand, we will have more robust conditions to access demanding markets, and a discussion tool in the face of international negotiation mechanisms,” he stated.
Alexandre Amorim highlighted the security and reliability of the system, stating that the technology offers producers simplified and efficient access to government services.
The documentation that officializes the Program and the platform was signed on the occasion. Moreover, Secretary Pedro Neto and Serpro President Alexandre Amorim signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement for the development of prototypes, systems and data platforms.
CERTIFICATIONS — The platform offers a service to speed up credit analysis, aimed at financial institutions validated by the Central Bank to participate in the 2024/25 Harvest Plan.
One of the highlights is the service that speeds up credit analysis for financial institutions authorized by the Central Bank, allowing for rapid cross-referencing of information and agile release of financing, in accordance with Resolution No. 5152 of the National Monetary Council [Conselho Monetário Nacional/CMN].
Producers who adhere to sustainable practices will be able to obtain discounts of up to 0.5% on financing, based on the same resolution. So far, the platform has the participation of 30 certifiers, and its interoperability with private systems will allow the expansion of its functionalities.
