Brazil’s President Lula talks with the president of Egypt
Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva spoke today (October 14) over the phone with the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sissi to request support for the withdrawal of Brazilian citizens trying to flee the Gaza Strip.
President Lula informed that, as soon as the Brazilians cross the Rafah crossing, they will be accompanied by the Brazilian ambassador in Egypt to Arish Airport, where they will immediately board a Brazilian Air Force plane to Brazil.
President Lula also highlighted that creating a humanitarian corridor for foreigners who want to return to their countries is crucial.
Both leaders agreed on the urgency of allowing humanitarian aid to enter Gaza. President Lula informed that Brazil is to send medication kits, amongst other items.
President Lula confirmed that Brazil, as president of the UN Security Council, will maintain tireless action to avoid an even greater humanitarian disaster and the spread of the conflict.
Both presidents reaffirmed their defense of the two-state solution and agreed to maintain frequent consultations on the ongoing crisis.
