President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will travel to the Capoto-Jarina Indigenous Land in Mato Grosso this Friday, April 4.

Lula will meet with Chief Raoni at the Piaraçu Village. Raoni is a prominent leader in political advocacy for environmental protection and Indigenous rights.

The president will also meet with other Indigenous leaders from the Xingu River basin.

Piaraçu Village is located in the municipality of São José do Xingu, Mato Grosso, and can be reached via the MT-322 highway. It is 42 km from downtown, 476 km from the municipality of Sinop and 952 km from the state capital, Cuiabá. Most flights to Sinop Airport arrive at night and come from Guarulhos International Airport (São Paulo), Brasília International Airport (Federal District) and Cuiabá International Airport (Mato Grosso).
