On Tuesday morning, December 3, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met with Iberdrola’s Executive Chairman Ignacio Galán and the CEO of Neoenergia, Eduardo Capelastegui. The meeting was held at Planalto Palace and was attended by Chief of Staff Minister Rui Costa and Minister of Mines and Energy Alexandre Silveira.

Galán highlighted the company's new investments, which will be carried out through Neoenergia, amounting to BRL 40 billion between 2024 and 2028. These investments are expected to focus on distribution and transmission.
The executives emphasized that Iberdrola has been operating in Brazil for over 25 years, having invested more than BRL 100 billion during this period. They also highlighted energy efficiency projects, as well as the Noronha Verde, which aims for up to 85% of the energy generated in the Fernando de Noronha archipelago to come from renewable sources. Additionally, they mentioned a capacity-building program for women electricians, which has already trained more than 1,000 professionals in the country.
