President Lula Meets British Prime Minister Keir Starmer

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Tuesday, November 19. Lula invited Starmer to visit Brazil next year to expand integration between the two countries and map the opportunities and economic areas where the countries can work together.
This is the second meeting between the two leaders in the five months since Starmer took office. Previously, they met in New York at a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Also taking part in the meeting on the Brazilian side were Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, Environment and Climate Change Minister Marina Silva, Agriculture Minister Carlos Fávaro, Labor Minister Luiz Marinho, and special presidential advisor Celso Amorim.
CARBON - Lula and Keir Starmer discussed COP29 and COP30 and the two countries' carbon reduction targets. Minister Marina Silva congratulated the UK on its ambitious targets to reduce carbon emissions.
The Prime Minister also spoke about British legislative initiatives to improve labor rights in the UK.
