President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met this Sunday, November 17, with the President of Angola, João Lourenço. The meeting took place in Rio de Janeiro, where Angola will participate as a guest country at the G20 Summit.
Brazil was represented at the meeting by ministers Mauro Vieira (Foreign Affairs), Rui Costa (Chief of Staff), Alexandre Silveira (Mines and Energy), and Carlos Fávaro (Agriculture), in addition to Celso Amorim (Special Advisor) and Márcio Elias Rosa (Executive Secretary at the Ministry of Development and Industry).
Lula and João Lourenço spoke about the proximity and strong historical relations between the two countries. The Angolan president stressed his country's identification with the three main themes proposed by Brazil at the G20: reforming global institutions, combating hunger, and the energy transition, adding the pharmacological sector as another point of interest.
The two presidents also discussed the support to the agricultural sector, particularly family farming and larger scale production, with technical cooperation on seeds.
Furthermore, they spoke about cooperation to attract private investments for the construction of transmission lines for industrial regions, as well as integration in the energy sector with Namibia and South Africa.
