President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva held talks with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday morning, November 4. President Lula regretted that they were unable to meet at the BRICS meeting in Kazan, Russia, and reiterated his interest in a bilateral meeting during the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, where South Africa will receive from Brazil the presidency of the group, which it will hold as of next year.

Lula reiterated to Ramaphosa the invitation to the IBSA (trilateral forum that includes India, Brazil and South Africa) breakfast, scheduled for November 19. He also thanked South Africa for its collaboration and support for the peace proposal drawn up by Brazil and China for the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
