Lula met with IDB President, Ilan Goldfajn

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met with Ilan Goldfajn, president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), on Saturday, November 16, at the Copacabana Fort in Rio de Janeiro. Their discussion focused on the economy of the Americas and the G20.
Also present at the meeting were Brazil's ministers of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, and Finance, Fernando Haddad, the Special Advisor to the President of the Republic, Celso Amorim, and the Banco Central's Director of Monetary Policy, Gabriel Galípolo.
Lula and Goldfajn addressed the global context and the challenges and opportunities facing Latin America and the Caribbean. The IDB President highlighted Brazil's leadership in the G20 Presidency particularly the launch of the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty and the discussions regarding the reform of multilateral development banks.
The IDB joined the Alliance and announced a commitment of up to BRL 140 billion to combat hunger and poverty.
