President Lula meets the governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof

On Tuesday morning, August 13, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva welcomed economist and governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, to Planalto Palace, accompanied by Finance Minister Fernando Haddad and Special Advisor Celso Amorim. During approximately 80 minutes, they discussed the Argentine economy and its current challenges, particularly the recession, the rise in unemployment and poverty, and de-industrialization.
They also talked about the country's political scene, the performance and prospects of Peronism, and the relationships between the various ideological currents. Moreover, they discussed the social and economic situation in the province of Buenos Aires, home to a large portion of Argentina's population and economic activity, as well as the challenges posed by the recession. Kicillof emphasized the importance of the province's economic relationship with Brazil. He also spoke about his meeting with Vice President Geraldo Alckmin this morning, during which they discussed trade and investment.
President Lula commented on the geopolitical situation in South America and the challenges that the regional integration process faces following the progress made during his first two terms in office. He also emphasized the importance of continuing with investment projects by Brazilian companies in the neighboring country.
