Lula speaks by phone with Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof
On Thursday, August 22, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva spoke by phone with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, who took office in early July. Lula extended his congratulations and best wishes for success in his new role. They discussed the importance of bilateral relations between Brazil and the Netherlands, the largest market for Brazilian exports in Europe and the fourth largest globally, following the United States, China and Argentina.
The Brazilian President invited Prime Minister Schoof to join the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, which Brazil will launch during the G20 Leaders’ Summit on November 18-19, 2024, in Rio de Janeiro. Additionally, Lula and Schoof addressed the situation in Venezuela, noting that both Brazil and the Netherlands witnessed the signing of the Barbados Agreement.
Lula extended greetings to former Prime Minister Mark Rutte, whom he hosted in Brasília in May 2023. In response, Schoof shared that Rutte provided positive feedback about his visit to Brazil.
