President Lula received a phone call today from the President of Finland Alexander Stubb. Lula congratulated him on his victory in this year's Finnish elections. Stubb recalled that he was Foreign Affairs Minister when Lula visited Finland in September 2007, the first visit by a Brazilian president to that country.
Both presidents had an in-depth conversation about the wars between Ukraine and Russia and in the Gaza Strip. Regarding the reform of global governance institutions, they expressed similar views on the importance of having more representatives from Latin America, Africa and Asia on the UN Security Council. President Lula also invited Finland to join the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.
