President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva welcomed the president of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, for a bilateral meeting and lunch at Itamaraty Palace on Monday, June 3. This is the first time a Croatian president has visited Brasilia.

Both presidents agreed on the need to face current international conflicts and to strengthen the United Nations. President Lula underscored the priorities of the Brazilian G20 Presidency, highlighting hunger eradication, climate change and energy transition. He mentioned the climate catastrophe in Rio Grande do Sul, possibly the largest one in Brazilian history – for which President Milanović expressed his deep condolences – and Brazil’s vast potential in the field of renewable energies.
Milanović recalled being present during the opening of the 2014 World Cup when Brazil Brazil debuted with a victory over Croatia. President Lula noted that Brazil will host the Women's World Cup in 2027.
From Brasilia, the Croatian traveled to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro for a series of meetings.
