UAE Informs Lula of Three Cargo Planes with Donations for RS
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva spoke by phone with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Thursday (16) at Planalto Palace. President Lula was informed by the Emirati leader of the imminent dispatch of three cargo planes to Brazil carrying donations to support the aid efforts in Rio Grande do Sul. These contributions include aid donated by the Brazilian community living at the UAE.
During the half-hour conversation, President Lula expressed his gratitude to the Emirati leader for his solidarity with the people of Rio Grande do Sul affected by the heavy rains. He also mentioned the recent floods in Dubai that impacted the UAE, underscoring the urgency and seriousness of climate change. President Lula emphasized that the Brazilian government will take every necessary action to support the state and the people of Rio Grande do Sul.
President Lula reiterated his invitation for Sheikh Mohammed to visit Brazil to strengthen the bilateral strategic partnership. He also expressed his intention to organize a bilateral event with investors and business leaders.
The two leaders agreed on calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and on supporting a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine. Additionally, they agreed on the importance of a negotiated resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Presidential Special Advisor for International Affairs Celso Amorim also took part in the call.
