President Lula talks by phone with Portugal's new Prime Minister
Lula congratulated Luís Montenegro on his victory in the elections in Portugal and wished him good luck in his mandate. The Portuguese leader spoke of his commitment to working for closer relations with Brazil

The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, spoke by telephone with the Prime Minister of Portugal, Luís Montenegro, on Tuesday afternoon, April 9.
President Lula congratulated the Prime Minister on his victory in the Portuguese elections and wished him good luck in his mandate.
Lula recalled the large Brazilian community that now lives in Portugal, a sign of brotherhood between the two countries, and told the Prime Minister that he would like to meet him in person soon.
Montenegro thanked President Lula for this first contact and spoke of his commitment to working for closer relations between Brazil and Portugal. The Prime Minister also thanked Lula for inviting Portugal to take part in the G20.
