Lula discusses the invasion of the Mexican Embassy in Ecuador with the president of Mexico, López Obrador
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva had a telephone conversation this Tuesday, April 9th, with the Mexican President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador
On the occasion, Lula expressed solidarity regarding the invasion of the Mexican Embassy in Quito, Ecuador, by the country's police forces on Friday, April 5th. The Brazilian leader highlighted that the incident represented a serious breach of international law. Lula stressed that Brazil will follow the discussion of the topic within the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
The Mexican president thanked Brazil for its solidarity and emphasized that, in addition to discussions within the CELAC, Mexico will bring the issue of the Embassy invasion to the International Court of Justice.
With the aim of further strengthening economic and business ties between the nations, the Brazilian President expressed the desire to travel to Mexico later this year, before the end of López Obrador's term. The Mexican leader stated that he would be delighted to receive Lula's visit.
