The Federal Government concluded one more flight of Operation Returning in Peace on Tuesday, December 12. The KC-390 Millennium aircraft (Embraer), from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), landed in Al-Arish, an Egyptian city near the Gaza border, at 10:45 a.m. (local time). The plane was carrying 11 tons of food to attend people in public emergency. The shipment of donations was coordinated by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
This was the third flight to leave Brazil in support of the victims of the conflict in the Middle East. On October 18, a VC-2 landed in Egypt with water filtration equipment and health kits. The load contained 40 water purifiers with the capacity to treat more than 220,000 liters a day. With Brazilian technology and manufacturing, the equipment is capable of removing 100% of viruses and bacteria from water.
Access to potable water is one of the biggest difficulties faced by the population of the Gaza Strip. The health kits serve up to 3,000 people each over the course of a month and are composed of medicines and supplies, such as anti-inflammatories, analgesics, antibiotics, as well as gloves and syringes. In all, each kit contained a total of 267 kilos of materials.
On November 2, another VC-2 from the Presidency of the Republic landed at Al-Arish International Airport, Egypt, carrying 1.5 tons of food - rice, sugar, corn derivatives and milk - destined for the population of the Gaza Strip, offered by the Landless Workers' Movement (Movimento dos Trabalhadores Sem Terra - MST), in a new humanitarian assistance action.
RETURNING IN PEACE - Operation Returning in Peace has officially surpassed the mark of 1,500 people repatriated from the conflict zone in the Middle East. In 11 flights coordinated by the Federal Government, a total of 1,525 passengers and 53 domestic animals have been rescued since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas on October 7.
