Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Vice-President and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services Geraldo Alckmin received today (November 6), at the Planalto Palace, the Global CEO of Nissan Corporation Makoto Uchida. The company is one of the world’s largest automakers, and has been officially in Brazil for 23 years.
Uchida announced that Nissan is going to launch two new SUVs in Brazil, thus increasing its investments in the country. He also stated the company's intention to export to Latin America and other countries from Brazil, as well as to strengthen the automaker’s internal suppliers in its industrial complex in Resende, Rio de Janeiro.
"Brazil is one of the strategic regions for our global growth," declared the CEO. According to Uchida, Nissan intends to double its share in the Brazilian market.
President Lula stressed that Brazil offers legal, political and social stability to anyone who wants to invest there, and that the country offers a growing market of investment return possibilities. Brazil is working hard to attract more investment so as to increase its population's income and quality of life.
During the meeting, Makoto Uchida presented Nissan's new strategic plan for Brazil during the 2023-2025 period. The meeting was also attended by state ministers and company businesspersons. Nissan's strategic plan will be announced tomorrow (November 7) during a ceremony to be held at the company's industrial complex in Brazil.
