VISIT TO CHINA
Lula meets with president of leading China state-owned power company State Grid
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met today (14) with State Grid president Zhang Zhigang in Beijing, China. The Chinese power company has investments in electricity in Brazil – 19 energy providers and transmission lines in 14 states.
State Grid is present across 88% of China, and serves more than 1 billion people.
Lula stressed the importance of Chinese investments to Brazil; his confidence in the Brazilian economy; and the federal government’s focus on investments in renewable energy and on expansion of the transmission grid by integrating wind and solar generation projects.
“We don't want to be salespeople for companies. We want to build whatever Brazil needs through partnerships,” said the president. The meeting also included ministers and state governors, members of the Brazilian delegation to China, and State Grid representatives.
The Chinese state-owned company also operates in Australia, Chile, Philippines, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy and Portugal.
