Brazil and Mexico are the two largest populations and economies in Latin America, accounting for around 65% of Latin America's GDP. Brazil identifies great growth potential to be exploited in the areas of trade and investment.
BRAZIL-MEXICO DUAL YEAR
In 2024, on the 190th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Brazil-Mexico Dual Year will be celebrated, comprising a series of cultural activities in both countries. Of particular note is Brazil's participation in the Cervantino Festival, Mexico's largest cultural festival, in the city of Guanajuato in October, with around 150 Brazilian artists expected to take part.

BRAZIL-MEXICO BINATIONAL COMMISSION
In 2023, the Brazil-Mexico Binational Commission resumed after a five-year hiatus. It is the highest-level body in the dialog between the diplomacies of both countries. The meeting brought together the foreign ministers of Brazil and Mexico in April 2023, in the Mexican capital, and resulted in a joint declaration with a broad bilateral work agenda [in Portuguese].

INAUGURATION OF PRESIDENT CLAUDIA SHEINBAUM
President Lula is one of the 16 heads of state and government who have confirmed their attendance at Claudia Sheinbaum's inauguration ceremony on October 1st. She will be the first woman to hold the presidency of Mexico. Laborism and social justice, central to the political agendas of Presidents Lula and López Obrador, should serve as a gateway to bilateral rapprochement on other issues that may gain greater prominence after Sheinbaum's inauguration, such as women's empowerment and environmental and sustainability issues.
