H.E. Mrs. Silvana Polich
Ambassador of Brazil to the Republic of Croatia
Silvana Polich was designated Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia in 2023.
Graduated in Journalism and Law, she, subsequently, attended the Brazilian Diplomatic Institute. As a diplomat, she served in the Permanent Delegation of Brazil to the European Union, and the Embassies in Prague, Sofia and Brussels. She served as well as Minister-Counsellor at the Embassies to the Holy See, Berlin, Oslo, and Bucharest where she acted as Deputy and Chargée d'Affaires for a long period.
At the beginning of her diplomatic career, she was appointed to represent Brazil in the Specialization Course in International Relations for Young Diplomats from Latin America sponsored by the Government of Italy, in Florence.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she worked at the Department of Americas - Division of Central and North America - at the Divisions of Commercial Operations and Human Rights and Social Themes, among others. Later, she held the position of Head of Training and Improvement Division. As Head of the Agricultural Sector at the Brazilian Delegation to the EU, she coordinated the bilateral agricultural negotiations between Brazil and the European Commission. At the Embassy of Brazil in Berlin, se held the position of Head of the Political and Economic sectors, having coordinated the works of the Bilateral Commission for Economic Cooperation and the Brazil-Germany Economic Meetings between 2012-2017.
Her thesis entitled "Brazil and the Deconstruction of the Former Yugoslavia: Lessons and Perspectives for Brazilian Diplomacy" was approved with a mention in the Higher Studies at the Diplomatic Academy in Brazil.
