Family Reunion visa (VITEM XI)
VITEM XI – FAMILY REUNION
a) General rules
This type of visa applies to those who are:
I) dependant (spouse, child) of a Brazilian national; or
II dependant (spouse, child) of a foreign national who is already the beneficiary of a residence permit in Brazil; or
III) dependant (spouse, child) of a foreign national who is obtaining a temporary visa (VITEM) to Brazil.
b) Instructions for lodging your application:
1- Collect all the required documentation listed on the table below;
2- Access the link https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br/sci/pages/web/ui/#/servicos-estrangeiros, fill in the online visa application form and upload the documents, photo and signature;
3- Conclude the application form, print and sign the Visa Request Form Receipt – RER.
4- Send the Visa Request Form Receipt – RER, scanned copies of all the required documents and proof of visa fees payment to the consular sector email (consular.zagreb@itamaraty.gov.br);
5- The consular sector will analyse your application and, if everything is correct, will send an email with an appointment date at the embassy;
6- On the scheduled day, bring the passport, all the original documentation and proof of payment in order to collect your visa.
c) Required documentation
If eligible, each applicant must submit the following documents:

Must have information on applicant's parents full names. The document must be authenticated by "The Hague Apostille Convention” and officially translated into Portuguese or English. |

Non-criminal record certificates |
Applicant must present two types of certificate: a) Certificate of no criminal proceedings (Uvjerenje da se ne vodi kazneni postupak); b) Certificate of no prior convictions (Uvjerenje iz kaznene evidencije da osoba nije osuđivana). They must have been issued in the last 3 months before visa application. The original document must be authenticated by "The Hague Apostille Convention" and officially translated into Portuguese or English. |

Original marriage certificate |
Proving the relationship with the bearer of the primary visa. |

Both the applicant and the spouse must sign the declaration, under penalty of perjury of law, stating that they are a couple in a factual and legitimate union, and that they already reside or are planning to reside in Brazil. Please note: the declaration must be signed in person before the consular agent. Alternatively, the signature may be certified by a notary public. |

Please note: if the dependant is under 18 years old, both parents / legal guardians must sign the child’s Visa Request Form Receipt (RER) before the consular authority.
d) Registration with the Federal Police
Holders of this type of visa must register with the Federal Police within 90 days from first entry in Brazil.
The Consulate anticipates that, among other documents, the applicant will have to present the Visa Application Form (FPV) provided upon issue of the visa, as well as their original full birth certificate, containing the parents' full name and the original marriage certificate.
Please note: the certificates must be legalised (get an apostille) by the competent authority in the issuing country. Documents issued in Croatia are legalised by http://sudovi.pravosudje.hr or http://www.mprh.hr. After being legalised, the documents must have to be translated into Portuguese by a sworn translator ("tradutor juramentado") in Brazil.
e) Notes:
The requirements listed are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa submission, the Embassy may request additional information and/or documentation.
The Embassy accepts visa submissions by the applicant in person or by a third person on his/her behalf (in this case, a corresponding written authorisation by the applicant or his/her employer is required). Once all the requirements have been met, visas are normally processed on the same day when the complete documentation is presented around 10:00 am.
f) Visa fees:
- All nationalities: EUR 105,00
except
- USA passport holders: EUR 304,50
- UK passport holders: EUR 225,75
