SEAMAN VISA INFORMATION
The applicant is exempt from visa if he or she intends to join a non-Brazilian ship and holds a Seafarers Identity Documents issued according to ILO guidelines.
This rule applies if the applicant will stay less than 90 days in Brazil (and haven't stayed for more than 90 days in Brazilian territory on the past year).
If the applicant does not hold a valid SID, they should apply for visa. In this case, if they stay less than 90 days, they should apply for Visit Visa (VIVIS). If they intend to stay longer, they should apply for Temporary Visa V - Work Visa (VITEM V).
Please be advised that the all VITEM V requests must be submitted to the Ministry of Labor in Brazil by the sponsoring institution before the application is submitted to the Consular Section in Yangon.
VISA INFORMATION
The visa form is available through the link https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br/sci/pages/web/ui/#/servicos-estrangeiros . Please follow the instructions on the website. After filling in the form and uploading all the documents, the system will generate a pdf file (Visa Request Form Receipt / “Recibo de entrega de requerimento” - RER).
After finishing the instructions above, applicants may email consular.yangon@itamaraty.gov.br to schedule a date to present the documents in person.

VISIT VISA (VIVIS)
The applicant should upload in the system and present in person the following original documents:
- Original and copy of passport valid for at least six months, with at least two blank pages available for the visa stamp;
- One online form (Visa Request Form Receipt / “Recibo de entrega de requerimento” - RER) completed and signed by the applicant;
- One passport photo* (2” x 2”), which you have to attach to the form (white background; blue background will not be accepted);
- Printed itinerary (confirmed round-trip air ticket);
- Confirmation of accommodation in Brazil;
- Proof of financial means of support during the stay in Brazil (bank statements for the past three months);
- Proof of occupation or company registration in Myanmar;
- If you’re not a Myanmar citizen, Visa/Stay Permit in Myanmar;
- Copy of International Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificate (optional)**;
- Copy of Household List or Birth Certificate (in English and Myanmar language);
- Event registration or invitation letter (to attend conferences, seminars, and for business purposes);
- Original and copy of NRC Card (in English and Myanmar language);
- Additional documents may be requested at the Consular Authority’s discretion.
Besides the documents required, for seafarer joining a vessel, the applicant should also present the following documents:
-Letter from the company describing the purpose of the trip, occupation, job position, and job description of the applicant.

** The presentation of a Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificate is no longer compulsory to enter Brazil. However, vaccination against yellow fever is recommended for all travelers when visiting the following states of Brazil: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Distrito Federal, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná, Piauí, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Roraima, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Tocantins. The vaccine should be administered at least 10 days before travel.
Visa Fee
Visa Fee is USD 80.00 for Myanmar citizens. Payments are to be made in cash only.
Visa Fees may vary for other countries, due to reciprocity. Please contact the Consular Section for visa fees for other nationalities.
All fees are non-refundable. Thus, after submitting your documents, you have to wait until the visa is ready (which can take 5 business days or more, depending on the type of visa or if your paperwork requires further analysis).
Please be advised: the payment of the consular fee does not guarantee that the visa will be granted. The consular fee is required as part of the application analysis process and will not be reimbursed in case the visa is not granted or denied due to lack of documentation by the applicant or any other relevant reason that may prevent the visa from being granted during the application analysis process.
Processing Time
After approval, the visa application takes regularly 5 working days to be processed and we may extend it if necessary, without any prior notice. Special visas (such as work, permanent or student visas) may take several days to be issued. Their processing will take as long as necessary to conclude the paperwork analysis by the Brazilian authorities. All applicants must make their plans considering that our regular processing time for Visit Visa is 5 business days.
VITEM V
VITEM V is commonly known as “work visa”. Typical activities include jobs contracted with a Brazilian company or individual, technical jobs and/or training performed at an affiliate company in Brazil, franchise operation activities, evaluation and/or repair of equipment installed in Brazil or sold to a Brazilian client, etc.
Qualified applicants:
- Professionals traveling to provide technical assistance or transfer technology/knowledge within a period of 90 days;
- Scientists, professors, teachers, journalists, technicians, or any other traveler holding an employment contract with a Brazilian employer;
- Professionals traveling to render service to the Brazilian Government;
- Students in professional training, working without a contract, after completion of a technical school or university course;
- Medical interns;
- Language teachers, including trainees;
- Ship crewmembers working on foreign vessels.
Requirements:
Please be advised that the all VITEM V requests must be submitted to the Ministry of Labor in Brazil by the sponsoring institution before the application is submitted to the Consular Section.
Once the request is approved by the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Foreign Relations will communicate said approval to the specified Consulate which may issue the visa.
Only after the authorization is granted by the Ministry of Labor will you be able to apply for a VITEM V visa at the Consular Section of the Embassy of Brazil in Yangon.
The applicant should present the following original documents in person:

- One online form (Visa Request Form Receipt / “Recibo de entrega de requerimento” - RER) completed and signed by the applicant;

- Printed itinerary (booked round-trip air ticket);
- Proof of occupation or company registration in Myanmar;
- If you’re not a Myanmar citizen, Visa/Stay Permit in Myanmar;
- Copy of International Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificate (optional)**;
- Original and Copy of Household List and Birth Certificate (in English and Myanmar language);
- If you’re not a Myanmar citizen, original and copy of Birth Certificate (in English);
- Original and copy of NRC Card (in English and Myanmar language);
- Criminal Clearance Certificate from the relevant police station issued within the last 3 months;
- Additional documents may be requested at the Consular Authority’s discretion.

Note
VITEM V holders must register with the Federal Police within 90 days from first entry. Upon registration, the individual will have to present a document containing both parents’ full names (e.g. full birth certificate), which must be duly legalized/apostilled by the competent authority in the issuing country and subsequently translated into Portuguese by a sworn translator ("tradutor juramentado") in Brazil.

There is no express service (the visa will not be issued on the same day of application). Groups may take longer.
Please note that issuing a visa is a complex process which involves sensitive matters such as border security and national sovereignty. For that reason, any consular authority has the right to extend the processing time whenever deemed necessary, in order to perform a more detailed analysis of the paperwork.
