VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Nº 01/2024
Position: Administrative Assistant
The Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Myanmar announces the public selection process for the recruitment of one Administrative Assistant (full-time basis). The selection process follows the terms and conditions set forth in this announcement.
The Administrative Assistant position is not a position of Brazilian public office and does not serve a public function in the Brazilian Government.
The Administrative Assistant will be a local staff of the Embassy of Brazil in Myanmar, appointed independently of his/her nationality, and hired in accordance with the laws of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The Administrative Assistant will be placed in any sector, according to the interest and needs of the Embassy.
- JOB DESCRIPTION AND BENEFITS
The Administrative Assistant recruited will be requested to perform various tasks in different sectors of the Embassy, such as:
• Provide general assistance to the public, in person, by email or telephone;
• Receive and separate all correspondence for distribution inside the Embassy;
• Provide information to the public enquiring about consular services;
• Assist relationships with banks, companies and government branches.
• Facilitate contact with local authorities;
• Prepare texts and correspondence, provide services and written translations in both the English and Myanmar languages;
• Assist Accounting department;
• Be available for occasional external services that require traveling within and outside Yangon (at no cost to the employee);
• Show interest to learn Portuguese, in case the candidate does not speak the language.
• Provide other administrative and support tasks as required by the Embassy;
-Working hours: 40 hours/week.
-Monthly salary: USD 1,000.00 (one thousand dollars);
-13 monthly salaries per year (i.e. 12 months’ salary plus bonus equivalent to one month salary, per year);
-The contract will be signed for a year with the possibility of yearly renewals.

Applicants must submit the following documents to be considered:
a) Application form scanned and signed; (download here)
b) Curriculum vitae with specific reference to language skills (Burmese and English), Microsoft Office, previous working experience, as well as e-mail address;
c) COPIES of the following documents:
c. 1) Proof of regular residence status and work permit to take full-time paid employment in Myanmar in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar (foreigners only);
c.2) Education level certificate/diploma;
c.3) Identification document (the candidate must be at least 18 years old);
c.4) Police clearance certificate issued by the Myanmar government (for Brazilian citizens, it is also necessary to present the "Certidão de Antecedentes Criminais", to be obtained at the following web address: https://www.gov.br/pt-br/servicos/emitir-certidao-de-antecedentes-criminais);
c.5) Recommendation letters from previous employers, if available
c.6) For Brazilian citizens, show compliance with voting duties by providing the voting certificate ("Certidão de Quitação Eleitoral" to be obtained on http://www.tse.jus.br/eleitor-e-eleicoes/certidoes/certidao-de-quitacao-eleitoral);
c.7) For Brazilian citizens, to present a hand-written letter signed by the candidate declaring that he/she does not hold any office, employment, function or public post, as well as that he/she does not receive any type of income from the Brazilian Government;
c. 7) For Brazilian male citizens, photocopy of military service records;
The copies of all documents listed above must be sent by e-mail, from February 28th to March 15th, to the email address administ.yangon@itamaraty.gov.br . The documents should be sent in “.pdf” file, in one email message only.
Applicants must submit each required copy of the documents listed above. Failure to do so may result in ineligibility.
3. SELECTION PROCESS – (Estimated dates – Annex I)
1st phase: Curriculum analysis/initial Screening
Applications will be initially screened for eligibility in accordance with the minimum requirements of education and experience, and based on the documentation received from the candidates.
2nd phase: Recruitment test
Shortlisted candidates will be given a recruitment test in English and Burmese in person in Yangon. The date, location, time and duration of the tests will be announced only to shortlisted candidates, by email.
3rd phase: Interviews
The highest scoring applicants from the 2nd phase recruitment test will be invited for an interview in person at the Embassy of Brazil in Yangon.
The date, location, time and duration of each interview will be announced only to shortlisted candidates individually, by email.
For every phase result, applicants may apply for re-examination in the maximum of two days after the announcement published in the Embassy`s official page. Appeals should be sent to administ.yangon@itamaraty.gov.br.
4. FINAL RESULT
The list with the names of the successful candidates, in ranking order, will be made public on the Embassy official page (https://www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/embaixada-yangon/english/vacancy-announcements). The candidate listed first will be selected for the current vacancy.
This selection process will be valid for twelve months, counted from the date of disclosure of the final result. 5. HIRING PROCESS
The selected candidate will be requested to present the original supporting documents listed in item 2 of this announcement within 3 days of the publication of the result. Failing to do so will invalidate his/her selection.
Besides the documents listed in item 2, the chosen candidate should present a certificate of physical and mental fitness issued by a doctor or medical official institution.
The selected candidate will be recruited for a contract term of one year from the date of signing an employment contract, with the possibility of yearly renewals, which term and renewals will be in accordance with the labor legislation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
Once hired, the candidate selected for the vacancy of Administrative Assistant must complete a probationary period of three months in the Embassy of Brazil in Yangon. At the end of the probationary period, the contract will be confirmed or canceled depending on the employee's performance.
6. GENERAL PROVISIONS
Any applicant for this vacancy is required to have read all of the terms and made note of the deadlines established in this Announcement, and the submission of an application by such applicant will be deemed an acceptance of the same. An applicant that makes a false or inexact statement, or that cannot fulfill the required conditions, may have his/her application withdrawn by the Selection Committee at its sole discretion at any time.
All the dates mentioned in this Announcement may be altered or rescheduled, at the sole discretion of the Selection Committee.
