PRESS ACCREDITATION. INAUGURATION CEREMONIES OF PRESIDENT-ELECT, LUIZ INÁCIO LULA DA SILVA, AND VICE PRESIDENT-ELECT, GERALDO JOSÉ RODRIGUES ALCKMIN FILHO (BRASÍLIA, 1ST JANUARY 2023)
Please see below information on accreditation of the foreign press for the Inauguration ceremonies of President-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and Vice President-elect, Geraldo José Rodrigues Alckmin Filho, on January 1st, 2023, at Planalto Palace and Itamaraty Palace, in Brasília.
OFFICIAL PRESS
2. Only delegations headed by Heads of State or Government, by Deputy Heads of State or Government, by Ministers of Foreign Affairs or, in the case of International Organizations, by the Head of the organization, are allowed to accredit members as official press.
3. Accreditation is limited to two members (photographer, cameraperson or technician) per delegation. Press members from governmental broadcasters and agencies must be registered as private press.
4. Applications for accreditation must be submitted no later than December 23, 2022, at 12 pm (Brasília time), by Note Verbale, which must include the following information:
(a) full name of the official press member;
(b) passport number; and
(c) main activity (cameraperson, photographer or technician).
5. In addition, each official press member must fill out the electronic form available at:
<https://forms.office.com/r/ubCVLpPWta>. After submitting the form, the registered e-mail address will receive a message, which must be replied to with the following documents attached:
(a) 3x4 photo, on a white background, in "jpg" format and with a maximum size of 1MB;
(b) copy of the passport pages showing identification with photo, passport number and visa number (when required); and
(c) copy of the Note Verbale of designation.
6. The accreditation request will be processed only after the aforementioned documents have been received.
7. The press badges will be handed over to Diplomatic Missions by the Press Office of Itamaraty (AIG) at Paulo Nogueira Batista room, located on the ground floor of "Anexo II" building ("Bolo de Noiva") of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, on a date and time to be informed in due course.
NON-OFFICIAL PRESS
8. Information regarding accreditation of press members from foreign private press or from foreign governmental broadcasters and agencies interested in covering the inauguration ceremonies will be disclosed shortly by Press Release.
PRESS OFFICERS/ PRESS ATTACHÉS
9. Delegation's press officers/ press attachés and official print media must be accredited as official delegation, with the Protocol of Itamaraty.
CEREMONY AT THE NATIONAL CONGRESS
10. There will be no official press coverage at the National Congress.
11. Regarding the private press, accreditation for the ceremony at the National Congress must be requested directly from that institution. Information is available at:
<www.senado.leg.br/senado/credenciamento-imprensa-posse-presidential-2023>.?The deadline for requesting accreditation to the ceremony at the National Congress is December 16, 2022.
GENERAL INFORMATION
12. Applications for accreditation that do not comply with the aforementioned procedures will not be accepted. Questions concerning accreditation procedures should be addressed to the Itamaraty Press Office (AIG), by phone +55 61 2030-8006/8007, or by e-mail "imprensa@itamaraty.gov.br".
13. Official press badges are personal and non-transferable. In the event of cancellation,suspension or revocation of official press badges, or replacement of a press member, the Press Office of Itamaraty must be notified immediately on the e-mail creden.imprensa.posse@itamaraty.gov.br, and the official press badge must be returned immediately.
