Missionary Work Visa (Temporary Visa VII)
This visa is applicable for ministers or members of religious orders, who intend to reside in Brazil to provide religious assistance services without employment in our country (RN 14/2017/CNIg).
PLEASE NOTE: For some nationalities, the Embassy must first apply for an authorisation from the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations before issuing the visa. In this case, the processing time is up to 30 days.
Visa Application Form
Click here to fill the Visa Application form. Once filled out and submitted, your online application form will be valid for thirty (30) days. After this period your online form will no longer be valid and it will be necessary to complete a new one.
Instructions:
*Select your preferred language for the online form (language tab) Click “Visa ” (if the English flag was selected)
*Read the instructions
*Fill out the form as accurately and completely as possible Click “Submit” to receive your application number and receipt
*Print the Visa Form Delivery Receipt (Recibo de Entrega de Requerimento)
*Attach one passport sized photo (3.5 x 4.5cm), according to the photo requirements (do not staple it to the form)
*Sign the receipt in the appropriate box abd on the very bottom of the receipt provide us with an email address and phone number for further payment instructions
*Either photocopy the receipt or write down the application number (número de protocolo) and keep in a safe place (it can be used to check at which stage of processing your application is at;
* Lodge your visa application on the e-consular website, by requesting a visa service appointment;
* Wait for the Embassy's validations of your e-consular request and follow the instructions given by the e-consular system to send the documentation to the Embassy of Brazil.
Required Documents:
From the religious institution in Brazil:
1. Certified copy of the Brazilian entity’s latest minutes of incorporation (Ata de Constituição);
2. Certified copy of document recognizing the legal authority of the religious order’s Principal to act on behalf of the order (comprovante de poderes de representação legal de seu dirigente);
3. Notarised declaration from the entity stating that it will take full (including financial) responsibility for your stay throughout your entire trip, and that it will be responsible for the costs of your repatriation.
From the applicant:
1. Passport, valid for at least 6 (six) months and containing at least 4 (four) blank visa pages. Please note that the amendment pages are not intended for visas;
2. Original declaration of ordainment and/or academic transcripts (or equivalent documents) that certify your religious education. These documents must have an Apostille Certification, issued by the Department of Internal Affairs of New Zealand. If the documents were not issued in New Zealand, then the Competent Authority of the country in which the documents were issued must issue the Apostillce Certification. If such country is not a member of the "Apostille Convention", then the documents must be legalised by the Brazilian Embassy which has jurisdiction over the issuing country.
3. A curriculum vitae;
4. A notarised declaration, signed by the applicant, stating that no activities will be conducted in native brazilian territory or with native brazilian peoples, unless authorise by FUNAI (Brazilian National Indian Foundation). This declaration must be duly notarized and receive an Apostille Certification by the Department of Internal Affairs of New Zealand;
5. Original criminal records check issued within the last 90 days;
6. Photocopy of round trip ticket to Brazil or ticket in transit, with flight numbers, dates and itinerary. Instead of a ticket, the Embassy will also accept a signed letter from the carrier or travel agent, on company letterhead, with the name of the vessel (in case of ships), itinerary, dates of arrival in and departure from Brazil;
7. Proof of residence within our consular jurisdiction (New Zealand, Kiribati, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu) for the past 12 months in the form of a phone bill, power bill, bank statement, or valid New Zealand Residency Visa;
8. Self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of the passport. The Consular Sector recommends that applicants use mail/courier services that provide a tracking number and delivery upon signature;
The Embassy may at any time request further information or additional documents as deemed necessary.
Processing Time
The usual processing time of visa applications is 5 business days for validation of appointment on the e-consular system, plus 5 business days after receipt of the documents.
If the online application form is not filled out by the applicants themselves, the processing time will be up to thirty (30) days.
Please note that the Embassy DOES NOT ISSUE SAME DAY VISAS, unless in case of a documented medical emergency.
Further Information
- Visas are good for multiple entries.
- Registration with the Federal Police within 90 days of first arrival in Brazil is mandatory;
- Applications will only be accepted if all required documents are enclosed. Incomplete applications will be returned at the applicants' expense.
