VITEM V - Temporary Visa V - Work visa
This visa may only be issued upon approval of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security of Brazil. Therefore, the application process starts directly in Brazil at such Ministry. Only after the Embassy receives the approval notification you may present the documentation listed below.
This type of visa can be issued to those who travel to Brazil to work and/or perform any services under contract, including scientists, researchers, technicians, professionals, and Maritimes
a) Professionals with an employment contract in Brazil (RN 02/2017/CNIg);
b) To provide technical assistance, without an employment relationship with an entity based in Brazil, or for the transferral of technology, arising from a contract or agreement between the foreign and Brazilian entities (RN 03/2017/CNIg).
c) To provide technical services in a situation of emergency without a work contract, for up to 180 (one hundred and eighty) days (RN 03/2017/CNIg).
d) To provide technology transfer - without an employment contract with an entity based in Brazil, based in a contract or agreement between the foreign and Brazilian entities (RN 04/2017/CNIg).
e) Maritimes that are employed by a foreign tourism vessel, including cruise ships, operating in Brazilian territorial waters, including the Brazilian coast, Amazonian river basin and internal waters, for over 180 days, without employment relations with a Brazilian company, and without a valid International Maritime Identity Card (RN 05/2017/CNIg).
f) Professionals providing services on board a foreign vessel or platform that is operating in Brazilian territorial waters, without employment relations with a Brazilian company, and without a valid International Maritime Identity Card (RN 06/2017/CNIg).
g) Professionals providing work or technical assistance to the Brazilian government, without a work contract to a Brazilian entity (RN 07/2017/CNIg).
h) To provide work in Brazil based on an international cooperation agreement, without a work contract to a Brazilian entity (RN 08/2017/CNIg).
i) To work as a representative of a foreign financial institution (or similar), without a work contract to a Brazilian entity (RN 09/2017/CNIg).
j) To work in Brazil as Director, Manager or Administrator of a private non-profit organisation, without a work contract to a Brazilian entity (RN 10/2017/CNIg).
k) Professionals that need to work in Brazil for an indeterminate term, without a work contract to a Brazilian entity, due to specific legislation that requires residence in Brazil. (RN 12/2017/CNIg).
l) Individuals who intend to come to Brazil to work as international correspondent for a newspaper, magazine, radio, television or foreign news agency (RN 17/2017/CNIg).
m) Individuals who have a work contract with a foreign branch of a Brazilian company and intend to receive training and assimilate the business culture and management methodology in the Brazilian parent company, as well as exchange and share work experiences (RN 18/2017/CNIg).
n) Employees of a foreign company who intend to visit Brazil to receive professional training in a Brazilian subsidiary belonging to the same economic group (RN 19/2017/CNIg).
* Application Process in Brazil
Work residence applications must be submitted directly to the Brazilian Ministry of Employment and Social Security. The Embassy can only process applications once the proper authorization has been received from Brazil.
Once the Embassy of Brazil has received the authorisation for a Work Visa, the following documents must be submitted.
Visa Application Form
The Visa Application form must be filled out online at https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br/sci/pages/web/ui/#/servicos-estrangeiros
Once filled out and submitted, your online application form will be valid for thirty (30) days. After this period your online form will no longer be valid and it will be necessary to complete a new one.
Instructions:
*Select your preferred language for the online form (language tab) Click “Visa” (if the English flag was selected)
*Read the instructions
*Fill out the form as accurately and completely as possible Click “Submit” to receive your application number and receipt
*Print the Visa Form Delivery Receipt (Recibo de Entrega de Requerimento)
*Attach one passport sized photo (3.5 x 4.5cm), according to the photo requirements (do not staple it to the form)
*Sign the receipt in the appropriate box and on the very bottom of the receipt provide us with an email address and phone number for further payment instructions
*Either photocopy the receipt or write down the application number (número de protocolo) and keep in a safe place (it can be used to check at which stage of processing your application is at;
* Lodge your visa application on the e-consular website, by requesting a visa service appointment;
*Wait for the Embassy's validations of your e-consular request and follow the instructions given by the e-consular system to send the documentation to the Embassy of Brazil.
Required Documents:
1. "Recibo de Entrega de Requerimento" (RER) duly signed (as per instructions above).
2. A Passport, valid for at least 6 (six) months and containing at least 4 (four) blank visa pages;
3. Original police clearance certificate issued within the last 90 days;
4. Self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of the passport. A mail/courier service that provides a tracking number and delivery upon signature is strongly recommended – please keep a copy of the tracking number. The Embassy is not liable for the loss, theft or delay of mailed documents.

Processing Time
The usual processing time of visa applications is 5 business days for validation of appointment on the e-consular system, plus 5 business days after receipt of the documents.
The Embassy reserves the right to request additional documentation or to request an interview with the visa applicant, in which case the processing time might be extended up to 30 days.
