Visitor Visa application information

Visitor Visas (VIVIS) are for those travelling to Brazil for maximum stays of up to 90 days, without the intention to establish residence, for the purpose of:

Tourism and Transit
Business
Academic research, scientific cooperation, academic extension programmes, visiting professors
Journalistic coverage, news reporting or filming
Non-corporate events (conferences, seminars, congresses etc.)
Study, internship
Vessel or aircraft crew members, maritime workers
Volunteer services

New Zealand citizens are exempt from visitor visas. Visas are granted at your arrival, at the border, for a stay of up to 90 days, which can be extended once for the same period, as long as they do not exceed 180 days within a 12-month period, counted from the date of the first entry.

Steps to apply for a visa

If you do require a visa, select the type of visa on our "General Information" page, according to the purpose of your trip and intended length of stay.
Read all the information carefully.
Collect all necessary documentation, listed below.
Fill out completely the online visa application form, print and sign the Visa Request Form Receipt – RER.
Upload the required documents to the E-Consular platform.
Once the documents are approved on the E-Consular platform, you may send your application by mail. Mailed-in applications must include a pre-paid NZ Post envelope.

Required documents for Visitor Visas (VIVIS)

On-line application form filled	Click here to access the electronic form. Once finished, click on the "Complete Application" button to generate the Visa Request Form Receipt (RER). Print the RER. Sign and affix your photo on the indicated fields. For minor applicants, both parents must sign the RER.
Photograph 4x5cm or equivalent	Standard NZ passport photo size. Must have been issued within the past 12 months. Please note that the upload of your photo is mandatory.
Valid Passport	Original passport signed by applicant, with at least two contiguous blank pages left. Please note that pages reserved for amendments cannot be used for visa purposes. Your passport must be in good condition in order to be accepted as a valid document. Adults must sign their passports. Passports of minors do not need to be signed.
If you are not a citizen of New Zeland Kiribati, Tonga or Tuvalu, you will have to present a valid Resident Visa.	As the Embassy in Wellington has consular jurisdiction over New Zealand, Kiribati, Tonga and Tuvalu, if you are not a resident of these countries, then your visa should be requested to the Embassy or Consulate that has jurisdiction over your country of citizenship.
Letter of intent/Statutory declaration	You must write a letter to the Embassy (in English or Portuguese) about your intended trip to Brazil. You must mention: a) when you intend to arrive in Brazil; b) the cities you plan to visit; c) the activities you are going to be involved with in each city; d) where you are staying in each city; e) if you are going to visit anybody in Brazil, you must mention their full names, date of birth, address, phone number and email address; f) when you intend to depart Brazil. Your visa may not be approved if your letter is too vague. For Business trips: the letter must be provided by your employer, including your position at the entity. For seminar, conference, artistic and sporting events attendees: an invitation or confirmation letter from the event organizers.
Round-trip ticket	Present an e-ticket bearing applicant’s name or ticket reservation, that incudes arrival and departure dates from Brazil. A travel agent reservation is accepted.
Proof of income	You must provide proof of income of the last 90 days, using one or more of the documents below, which must contain your name and date: Pay slips Bank statements Credit card statements
Visa processing fee	Click here to check the visa processing fee. As soon as we receive your documents we will send you an e-mail with payment instructions. Payment does not guarantee that the visa will be granted. All processing fees are non refundable.
For mailed-in applications: return envelope	NZ Post or courier service envelope with tracking number and signature upgrade Envelope must be pre-paid and self-addressed.
Processing time for visa application	VIVIS are processed and sent back to you within 5 business days of payment confirmation.
