Visitor Visa application information
Visitor Visas (VIVIS) are for those travelling to Brazil for maximum stays of up to 90 days, without the intention to establish residence, for the purpose of:
- Tourism and Transit
- Business
- Academic research, scientific cooperation, academic extension programmes, visiting professors
- Journalistic coverage, news reporting or filming
- Non-corporate events (conferences, seminars, congresses etc.)
- Study, internship
- Vessel or aircraft crew members, maritime workers
- Volunteer services
New Zealand citizens are exempt from visitor visas. Visas are granted at your arrival, at the border, for a stay of up to 90 days, which can be extended once for the same period, as long as they do not exceed 180 days within a 12-month period, counted from the date of the first entry.
Steps to apply for a visa

- If you do require a visa, select the type of visa on our "General Information" page, according to the purpose of your trip and intended length of stay.
- Read all the information carefully.
- Collect all necessary documentation, listed below.
- Fill out completely the online visa application form, print and sign the Visa Request Form Receipt – RER.
- Upload the required documents to the E-Consular platform.
- Once the documents are approved on the E-Consular platform, you may send your application by mail. Mailed-in applications must include a pre-paid NZ Post envelope.

Letter of intent/Statutory declaration |
a) when you intend to arrive in Brazil; b) the cities you plan to visit; c) the activities you are going to be involved with in each city; d) where you are staying in each city; e) if you are going to visit anybody in Brazil, you must mention their full names, date of birth, address, phone number and email address; f) when you intend to depart Brazil.
