The Ministry of Foreign Affairs promotes Brazilian exports through a network of SECOMs (Trade Promotion Sections) around the world, with nine offices in the United States alone: Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco.
Responding (personally, on a message-by-message basis) to inquiries from Brazilian companies interested in exporting to the United States is one of SECOM's most important daily activities.
Common inquiries include requests for lists of importers and distributors, questions about tariffs, rules, regulations, licenses, and general requirements for exporting to the United States.
Promoting Brazilian exports through trade missions, road shows and other events is another important part of our work.
We also help U.S. importers find Brazilian suppliers.
Brazilian companies interested in exporting can register for free with Invest & Export Brasil, the official website of the Brazilian government for promoting and investing in Brazil. Once registered, the company will be listed in a directory made available to foreign importers looking to trade with Brazil.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also supports Brazilian exports through the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), which provides consulting services, market research, and incubator programs for start-ups and business rounds with U.S. companies.
