VITEM VII - Religious Activity
Foreign citizens travelling to Brazil as ministers or members of a religious order (priest, pastor, medium, monk, nun, missionary or other type of religious worker or professional or/and preach, evangelize, speak as a religious person, care for people's spiritual needs, manage or help manage a religious institution, church, mosque, terreiro, synagogue, religious site, spiritual center etc.) must have this visa, which in certain cases requires specific authorization from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This visa is valid for up to 1 year, and is extendable for the same amount of time.
Those willing to extend their stay should apply for extension at the Brazilian Federal Police.
Holders of this type of visa must register with the Federal Police within 90 days from first entry in Brazil. Contact the Federal Police directly to learn how to register.
The Consulate anticipates that, among other documents, the applicant will have to present the Visa Application Form (FPV) provided upon issue of the visa, as well as his/her original birth certificate, containing the parents' full names.
Please note: the certificate must be apostilled by the competent authority in the issuing country. After that, the document will have to be translated into Portuguese by a sworn translator ("tradutor juramentado") in Brazil.
