Digital Nomad Visa (VITEM XIV)
I. General Information
The National Immigration Council of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, regulated the granting of temporary visas and residence permits so that immigrants may work for foreign employers while staying in Brazil, with no formal employment registered in the country.
The measure sets an initial one-year period of residence.
II. Mandatory Documents
1) Visa Application Form
Fill in the electronic application form at https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br/, upload all requested documents, submit, print out, sign and annex a recent photograph.
2) Valid passport
a) Passport should be valid for the entirety of the intended stay.
b) The Consular Section of the Embassy reserves the right not to endorse soiled, damaged or defaced passports.
c) Passport must have at least 2 unused (blank) pages.
3) Extract from the Criminal Records
4) Birth certificate with Apostille of Hague
5) Travel insurance including medical insurance.
6) Proof of being a digital nomad (the applicant must present all the three following documents):
a) Declaration of the applicant who attests to the ability to perform his/her professional activities remotely, through information and communication technologies;
b) Employment contract or contract for provision of services or other documents proving the link with a foreign employer; and
c) Proof of means of subsistence, from a foreign paying source, in a monthly amount equal to or greater than US$ 1,500.00 (one thousand five hundred U.S. dollars) or availability of bank funds in the amount of US$ 18,000.00 (eighteen thousand U.S. dollars).
