O Embaixador
Eduardo Gradilone is a Brazilian diplomat, currently the Ambassador of Brazil to Iran in Tehran.
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in January 10, 1951, he graduated in Social Communication and Journalism at Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP) and in Law at Universidade de São Paulo (USP) in 1974. He also received a Master’s degree (MA) in Constitutional and State Law in 1983 from the Universidade de São Paulo (USP).
He graduated from the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy (Instituto Rio Branco - IRBr) in 1979, when he started his diplomatic career as Third Secretary.
At the Ministry of Foreign Relations in Brasilia he was Advisor at the Department of Personnel (1979-83); Advisor to the Under Secretary General for Political Affairs (1992-94); Advisor to the Under-Secretary General for South America (2006); Head of Cabinet of the Under-Secretary General for Brazilian Communities Abroad (2007); Director of the Department for Brazilian Communities Abroad (2007-10) and Under Secretary for Brazilian Communities Abroad (2010-12).
His foreign assignments include postings at the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, DC (USA – 1983-87), Bogotá (Colombia – 1987-89), Paramaribo (Suriname – 1989-91), London (UK – 1994-97), Tokyo (Japan – 1997-2001) and the Holy See at the Vatican (2001-2006). As Permanent Head of Mission he was accredited as Ambassador of Brazil to New Zealand in 2012, to Turkey in 2016, to Slovakia in 2020 and to Iran in 2023.
He is married to Diva Cristina Salles Leite e Gradilone and has with her two daughters.
