Vessel or aircraft crew members, maritime workers (VIVIS)
General rules
- Visitor Visas (VIVIS) are aimed at those travelling to Brazil for maximum stays of up to 90 days, without the intention to establish residence, for the purposes of working aboard cruise ships operating along the Brazilian coast or as aircrew members, as well as conducting maritime worker activities aboard foreign-flagged vessels or platforms operating in Brazilian jurisdictional waters.
- Please note: holders of International Aircrew Card and holders of Seaman's Card Discharge Book, issued in accordance to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) convention, are exempt from VIVIS as long as their stay does not exceed 90 days per year (counted from the date of first entry).
- Foreign nationals from countries with which Brazil holds visa exemption agreements benefit from Visitor Visa (VIVIS) waiver.
- Estonian nationals are exempt from VIVIS as long as their stay does not exceed 90 days every 180 days (counted from the date of first entry, multiple entries permitted).
- USA, Canada and Australia: nationals of those countries traveling as visitors (VIVIS) are visa exempted until April 9th, 2025. After April 10th, 2025, travelers must apply for an E-Visa at: https://brazil.vfsevisa.com
- Alien passport holders (non-citzens/ undefined citzenship/ stateless) must apply for a visa.
- VIVIS holders are strictly forbidden to practise any paid work in Brazil, but are allowed to receive payments from the government, a Brazilian employer or a private entity for the purposes of daily allowances, artistic paychecks, compensation or travel expenses, as well as to receive cash prizes in sports, artistic or cultural competitions.
Required Documentation:
1. VALID PASSPORT
Must have at least two blank pages. Pages reserved for amendments cannot be used for visa purposes.
2. ORIGINAL INVITATION LETTER FROM THE COMPANY TO WHICH THE APPLICANT IS LINKED
The invitation letter must be printed on company letterhead and contain the following information:
a) The applicant's full personal details, including job, position and function;
b) Purpose of the trip (brief description of the activities) and intended length of stay;
c) Details of the company and person in charge in Brazil (full name, telephone, e-mail etc.).
3. PROOF OF REGULAR IMMIGRATION STATUS IN ESTONIA (if applicable)
For foreign residents/ non-Estonian citzens
For the visa application, it will also be required:
ONE PHOTOGRAPH
Photo must be in color, front view, white background, size 4 x 5 cm (document/passport size), printed in photographic paper and taken recently (3 months old maximum). The same photo cannot be used for more than one application.
VISA REQUEST FORM RECEIPT (RER)
- The form must be filled in online (click here).
- Enter complete information – please note that some fields are mandatory.
- Parents' names must be entered in full (name and surname), exactly as displayed in the applicant's birth certificate.
- Click on the "Complete Application" button to generate the Visa Request Form Receipt (RER).
- Print and sign the RER; affix your photo on the indicated field.
- If the applicant is under 18 years old, the RER must be signed by both parents.
Gather all original documents listed above. They must be presented during the scheduled interview at the Embassy, along with the RER.
Please note that documents in digital format must be printed (including bank statements downloaded from Internet Banking platforms). Documents shown on mobile device screens will not be accepted.

VISA FEE PAYMENT
The visa fee is paid by online transfer to the Embassy's bank account after the Embassy has received the visa application and all its documents.
Visa fees are not refundable.
