Work - Apprenticeship (VITEM V)
General rules
- Based on Normative Resolution No. 26/2027 (Portuguese only).
- This visa is applicable when the internship is intermediated by a recognized professional exchange programme institution. It only applies to university students or those graduated within twelve months before the application.
- The exchange programme institution acts as an intermediary between the intern and the company offering the placement. A temporary work contract between the student and the company must be submitted to the Brazilian Ministry of Labour by the intermediary institution.
- Work Visas are subject to prior approval by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security. The process must be initiated in Brazil, by the sponsoring company (on behalf of the applicant), with submission of the pertinent application and supporting documentation to that Ministry.
- Once the procedure in Brazil is concluded and approved, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security will transmit the authorisation to the Embassy via the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Only then the applicant can proceed with the visa application by requesting an appointment at the Embassy.
- In order to confirm if an authorisation has been received by the Embassy, please send an e-mail to consular.talin@itamaraty.gov.br
- Foreign nationals who are already in Brazil can apply for residence permit for the purposes of work directly with the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security (there is no need to return to Estonia to get a VITEM V).
