VISAS
The Consular Section of the Brazilian Embassy in Sofia has jurisdiction over the territories of Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
- ATTENTION! This consular service must be scheduled exclusively by email (consular.sofia@itamaraty.gov.br).
- In times of heavy workload waiting times will increase. Therefore, do not leave your application to the last minute and do not commit yourself to travel plans until you know when your visa will be issued. General conditions are subject to change without prior notice.
- Bulgarians and Macedonian citizens do not require a VISITOR/TOURIST VISA to go to Brazil (maximum stay of 90 days every 180 days).

GENERAL RULES - REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO APPLY FOR ANY VISA
· Applicant’s passport, valid for no less than six months. Soiled, damaged or defaced passports will not be accepted
· Visa Application Form must be completely filled.
. Follow the steps:
1- Fill in the form.
2- Click "SEND" to receive your processing number and receipt.
3- Print the receipt.
4- Attach one photograph (5cm x 5cm).
5- Sign the receipt.
6- Bring the duly completed and signed receipt, the original documentation requested, passport and consular fee in BGN (Bulgarian Lev) to the Consular Section of the Embassy at the scheduled date.
The application form completed online is valid for six months; if you apply after that period it will be necessary to complete (fill out) another form.
The type of visa depends on the nature of the visit. Citizens of other nationalities may or may not need a visa also depending on the purpose of their visit.
IF ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS ARE PRESENTED BY BY MAIL:
If the visa is applied by mail, applicant must reside within the consular jurisdiction of the Embassy in Sofia: Republic of Bulgaria and Republic of North Macedonia.
Please allow 5 to 10 business days for processing of visa application and return of passport, not including transit time. This processing time applies from the moment application is received at the consulate.
The Consular Section of the Brazilian Embassy in Sofia will only receive correspondence sent by special mail service or a courier service. For the return of the documents the Consulate will always use special courier service. Applicants must use a pre-paid service. The Consular Section of the Brazilian Embassy will not be financially responsible for the returning of the documents.
The Consular Section of the Brazilian Embassy in Sofia recommends that applicants use mail/courier services that provide a tracking number.
Incomplete or incorrect applications will be returned to sender within 10 business days.
The Consular Section of the Brazilian Embassy in Sofia is not responsible for delayed, lost or stolen mail.

e-Visa for Australians, Canadians, and Americans
2) TEMPORARY VISA (the type of visa varies according to the purpose of the trip):
- VITEM I – Academic research, scientific cooperation, academic extension programmes, visiting professors;
- VITEM IV - Education - Internship;
- VITEM V - Work;
- VITEM IX - Investment;
- VITEM XI - Family reunion with a Brazilian citizen or a foreign citizen who is resident in Brazil
- VITEM XIV – Digital Nomad
