VITEM VIII - Voluntary Work

For foreign volunteers working for more than 90 days.

Eligibility

Foreign citizens that wish to establish temporary residency in Brazil to work as a volunteer for a Brazilian non-profit organization or one linked to a foreign government, without labour contract with Brazilian entities.

Eligible dependents of a VITEM VIII visa holder or applicant may apply for a Temporary Visa XI - Family Reunion.

Terms and Conditions

Based on Normative Resolution No. 15/2017 of the National Immigration Council.
Holders of such visa are prohibited from holding any job or receive any payment in Brazil.
Temporary Visas are issued for up to 1 year and the residency period is determined by Brazil's Federal Police upon registration in Brazil (see below).
Holders of any Temporary Visa must register with the Federal Police in Brazil within 90 days from first arrival in the country. Applicants will receive a Visa Application Form from the Embassy upon the issuance of the visa, which must be presented for such registration.

Required Documents

Document	Remarks
Application form	Fill-out the Online Visa Application Form; Click "SEND" to receive your processing number and receipt; Print the receipt; Attach one PASSPORT SIZE color photograph over white background. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted; SIGN the receipt and deliver it to the Consular Section together with all other required documents (walk-in basis, no appointment needed).
Passport	Valid for no less than 6 months (damaged or defaced passports will not be accepted); With at least 2 blank visa pages remaining (exluding those marked for amendments and observations).
Proof of immigration status	For non-Singaporeans/PR, original or front and back copy of the applicable pass (EP, S Pass, DP, LTVP, Student Pass, etc.); For permanent residents, original or front and back copy of the NRIC ("blue IC").
Criminal background check	Issued within the past 90 days by the Singapore Police Force (Certificate of Clearance - COC) and for every country the applicant has lived in for the past 12 months; Documents not issued in Singapore must be apostilled by the issuing country's competent authority or certified by the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate in the country of origin; For emergency or urgent technical assistance, authorized as such by the Ministry of Labour for a period up to 180 days, said document is not necessary.
Birth certificate	Original or clear copy, stating parents' full names, unless the applicant's passport already contains such information. Certified English translation must be provided if the document is not issued in English.
Air ticket	Valid ticket (one-way ticket accepted), showing the airline's booking code (travel agent's or any other third party's code will not be accepted); Applications with only a flight pre-booking or intend itinerary will not be entertained.
Purpose-specific documents	Letter of invitation issued by Brazilian sponsoring organization attesting to the volunteer condition of the work to be performed, with signature certified by notary public or eletronic signed (https://www.gov.br/governodigital/pt-br/assinatura-eletronica); Notarized copy of Brazilian sponsoring organization by-laws; Notarized copy of the act in which the organization's directors were nominated or elected; Notarized copy of Brazilian sponsoring organization's registration at the "Conselho de Assistência Social" or certificate qualifying as an organization of public interest issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice; Note: organizations linked to a foreign government do not need to present such documents. Notarized document indicating place where the volunteer work will be conducted and the activities to be performed by the applicant; Notarized written statement from Brazilian sponsoring organization guaranteeing maintenance of volunteer in Brazil and his/her repatriation at term; Notarized term of responsibility from Brazilian sponsoring organization guaranteeing payment of all hospital and medical expenses of applicant and his/her dependents while their stay in Brazil; Notarized copy of document prooving that the organization is lawfully operating in Brazil; As applicable (for activities demanding specific knowledge or previous experience): Notarized document proving applicant's professional experience or qualification compatible with the activities to be performed.

Visa Fee and Processing Time

VITEM VIII fee is S$ 150.00.

On a reciprocity basis, distinct visa fees applies for citizens of:

Germany: free of charge;
United Kingdom: S$ 322.50 (only if duration of stay exceeds 180 days);
USA: S$ 375.00.

Payment must be made through one of the following options:

PayNow transfer to PayNow ID (UEN) S68DP0048C or by scanning the QR code below:
FAST transfer or cash deposit at United Overseas Bank (UOB), account number: 339332338-6 - Embassy of Brazil;
Please input applicant's name or application number in the "reference" or "comment" field when using PayNow or FAST transfers;
In case of multiple applications, a single payment can be made for the total ammount.

Visas are processed in 3 working days.

Please note that processing time may be extended in times of heavy workload or due to unforeseen circumstances.

Remarks

Please note that issuing or denying a visa is a sovereign act of Governments. It is a prerogative applied by every country and strengthened by international practice.
The requirements are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa submission, the Embassy may request additional information/documentation. All required supporting documentation must be issued in Singapore or be easily verifiable by the Consular Section.
The Embassy accepts visa submissions by the applicant in person or by a third party, acting on his/her behalf, or a travel/visa agency in Singapore. The Embassy cannot and will not recommend any such firm.
A visa shall be denied to any foreign citizen who, when submitting his/her application, behaves in an aggressive, insulting or disrespectful way.
