Eligibility
- Foreign scientists, professors, researchers or other professionals that wish to establish temporary residency in Brazil, as follows:
- employed by a foreign educational or research institution to participate in science, technology or innovation cooperation projects under the umbrella of an international cooperation program with a Brazilian institution;
- recipient of a research grant from a Brazilian educational institution or support foundation;
- under the umbrella of an international agreement recognized by the Brazilian Ministry fo Foreign Affairs;
- employed by a Brazilian educational or research institution to conduct research, teaching or academic extension activities;
- Note: visas issued in this case requires prior approval of residence permit by the Brazilian Ministry of Labour (see below).

- Eligible dependents of a VITEM I visa holder or applicant may apply for a Temporary Visa XI - Family Reunion.
Terms and Conditions
- Based on Normative Resolutions No. 20/2017 and No. 24/2018 of the National Immigration Council.
- Approval of residence permit by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Safety is required, prior to visa application, only in the case of employment by a Brazilian institution (those under Normative Resolution No. 24/2018). Please check here for details on how to obtain such approval.
- Temporary Visas are issued for up to 1 year and the residency period is determined by Brazil's Ministry of Justice and ratified by Federal Police upon registration in Brazil (see below).
- Those granted with a residence permit for more than 1 year may continue to enter Brazil throughout their temporary residency period with a valid passport and a Brazilian National Migratory Registry Card - CRNM (previously, National Registry of Foreigners - RNE).
- Holders of any Temporary Visa must register with the Federal Police in Brazil within 90 days from first arrival in the country. Applicants will receive a Visa Application Form from the Embassy upon the issuance of the visa, which must be presented for such registration.

Visa Fee and Processing Time
- VITEM I fee is S$ 150.00.
- On a reciprocity basis, distinct visa fees applies for citizens of:
- Argentina: free of charge;
- Germany: free of charge;
- United Kingdom: S$ 322.50 (only if duration of stay exceeds 180 days);
- USA: S$ 375.00.
- Payment must be made through one of the following options:
- PayNow transfer to PayNow ID (UEN) S68DP0048C or by scanning the QR code below;
- FAST transfer or cash deposit at United Overseas Bank (UOB), account number: 339332338-6 - Embassy of Brazil;
- Please input applicant's name or application number in the "reference" or "comment" field when using PayNow or FAST transfers;
- In case of multiple applications, a single payment can be made for the total ammount.
- Visas are processed in 24 hours, with collection on the next working day.
- Please note that processing time may be extended in times of heavy workload or due to unforeseen circumstances.
Remarks
- Please note that issuing or denying a visa is a sovereign act of Governments. It is a prerogative applied by every country and strengthened by international practice.
- The requirements are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa submission, the Embassy may request additional information/documentation. All required supporting documentation must be issued in Singapore or be easily verifiable by the Consular Section.
- The Embassy accepts visa submissions by the applicant in person or by a third party, acting on his/her behalf, or a travel/visa agency in Singapore. The Embassy cannot and will not recommend any such firm.
- A visa shall be denied to any foreign citizen who, when submitting his/her application, behaves in an aggressive, insulting or disrespectful way.
