ATTENTION: From 10 April 2025, citizens of Australia, Canada and the United States will no longer be able to enter Brazil without a Visit Visa.
(Note: the effective date has been updated after been iniatially scheduled to 1st October 2023 and subsequently postponed)
Eligibility
- Visit Visa is applicable if you are travelling to Brazil for short stays (up to 90 days) with any of the following purposes and no intention of establishing residence :
- Tourism;
- Business activities, including meetings, trade fairs, prospection of commercial opportunities, contract signing, auditing and consulting;
- Study trips, including academic internship, theological and technical studies (as student or teacher);
- Family visit;
- Attend congresses, seminaries or conferences;
- Volunteer work for religious social assistance entities or non-governmental organizations;
- Science, technology or innovation research or cooperation activities, under the umbrella of an international cooperation program with a Brazilian institution (as scientists, professors, researchers or other professionals, employed by a foreign educational or research institution);
- Media coverage and/or film-making;
- Work as flight/ship crew member without an international crew card (for maritime crew, only those holding a Seafarers' Identity Document issued by countries that have ratified ILO's Convention 185 may enter the country for short stays without a Visit Visa);
- Artistic performances and/or competitions (both as an artist or supporting technical staff);
- Sports competitions and/or training camps (both as athletes or supporting technical staff);
- Medical treatment;
- Adoption of a Brazilian child;
- Application for residence in Brazil (for an underage child adopted by a Brazilian citizen or resident);
- Renewal of an expired Brazilian foreigner registration card (for permanent residents over 60 years old);
- Registration or extension of temporary residence in Brazil;
- Reissuance of a lost, stolen or damaged Brazilian foreigner registration card;
- Transit through Brazil, for those who must leave the international transit area (otherwise no visa is required).
- Citizens of the following countries / special administrative regions, holding passports with a minimum validity of 6 months, do not need a visa to enter Brazil for visit purposes and stays of up to 90 days unless otherwise stated:
- Albania, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belarus, Belgium, Belize, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Dominican Republic (60 days), Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia (30 days), Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kazakhstan (30 days), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Macedonia, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, San Marino, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore (30 days), Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uruguay, Vatican and Venezuela (60 days).
- Please note: as per the terms of the visa agreement between both countries, Singapore citizens visiting Brazil for more than 30 days must apply for a 90-day Visit Visa through the regular application procedure stated below.
- Extensions, if permitted, must be requested at the Brazilian Federal Police, once in the country.
- Until 9 April 2025, citizens of Australia, Canada and the United States of America, holding passports with a minimum validity of 6 months, also do not need a visa to enter Brazil for visit purposes and stays of up to 90 days, due to unilateral waiver from Brazil (holders of Brazilian passports still require visas to visit those countries):
- From 10 April 2025 onwards, citizens of those 3 countries must hold a valid Visit Visa in order to enter Brazil, with the option of applying for either a physically stamped Visit Visa - through the regular application procedure stated below - or an electronic format E-visa - through brazil.vfsevisa.com.

Terms and Conditions
- Based on Decree No. 9.199/2017;
- Stays on a Visit Visa or a visa-free permission are limited to 90 days unless otherwise stated;
- Extensions may be issued once the applicant is in Brazil, at the discretion of Brazilian immigration authorities, and apply to both VIVIS visa holders and those exempted from one;
- Visitors staying for artistic, athletic, auditing or consulting activities, or as maritime crew are not eligible for extensions;
- Maximum cumulative stay in Brazil is limited to 180 days (consecutive or not) at any 12-month period, unless as detailed below:
- For citizens of the Dominican Republic, limited 120 days at any 12-month period;
- For citizens of the following countries, limited to 90 days at any 180-day period (and, thus, rendering them not eligible for extensions):
- Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Seychelles, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine.
- Visas for health treatment, adoption of a Brazilian child or for an underage child adopted by a Brazilian citizen or a permanent resident over 60 years old with an expired foreign registration card will be issued for single entry;
- Bearers of a Visit Visa cannot receive any payment from a Brazilian company/institution, except in the form of daily allowances, reimbursement of travel expenses, pro labore, artistic fees or prizes from sports competitions or artistic/cultural contests.

Visa Fee and Processing Time
- Visit Visa fee is S$ 120.00.
- On a reciprocity basis, distinct visa fees applies for citizens of:
- Angola: S$ 270.00;
- Argelia: S$ 127.50;
- Australia: S$ 180;
- China: S$ 172.50;
- United States: S$ 277.50.
- On a reciprocity basis, distinct visa fees applies for citizens of:
- Payment must be made through one of the following options:
- PayNow transfer to PayNow ID (UEN) S68DP0048C or by scanning the QR code below;
- FAST transfer or cash deposit at United Overseas Bank (UOB), account number: 339332338-6 - Embassy of Brazil;
- Please input applicant's name or application number in the "reference" or "comment" field when using PayNow or FAST transfers;
- In case of multiple applications, a single payment can be made for the total amount.
- PayNow transfer to PayNow ID (UEN) S68DP0048C or by scanning the QR code below;
- Visas are processed in 24 hours, with collection on the next working day.
- Please note that processing time may be extended in times of heavy workload or due to unforeseen circumstances.
Remarks
- Please note that issuing or denying a visa is a sovereign act of a Government. It is a prerogative applied by every country and strengthened by international practice.
- The requirements are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa submission, the Embassy may request additional information/documentation. All required supporting documentation must be issued in Singapore or be easily verifiable by the Consular Section.
- The Embassy accepts visa submissions by the applicant in person or by a third party, acting on his/her behalf, or a travel/visa agency in Singapore. The Embassy cannot and will not recommend any such firm.
- A visa shall be denied to any foreign citizen who, when submitting his/her application, behaves in an aggressive, insulting or disrespectful way.
- General conditions are subject to change without prior notice.
- For children aged between three months and six years, proof of vaccination against polio is compulsory (vaccination booklet from local clinic or letter from GP).
