How to apply for services on e-consular
The Embassy of Brazil in Riyadh is now part of the e-consular platform, which is used by other Brazilian consulates and embassies around the world for consular services. On e-consular, you can quickly and safely apply online for all consular services offered by the embassy, using your computer, smartphone, or tablet.
On e-consular, you will find detailed instructions for each service and will upload digital copies of your documents, receive guidance from embassy staff (if there are errors or missing information or documents in your application), and choose to schedule an appointment for in-person service (when available) or to send your application documents by mail or courier for processing.
Please find below a brief tutorial on how to use e-consular and submit consular service applications.
HOW TO SET UP AN ACCOUNT (FIRST ACCESS):
In order to use e-consular, you need to have a user account. You can use your existing GOV.BR account (if you have one) or you can sign up for an e-consular account, which will allow you to be notified of updates regarding your applications.
IMPORTANT: you do not need to sign up for an account for each family member that needs consular services from the embassy. If you wish, for example, to apply for a visa for yourself and your family members, you can use a single e-consular account to submit a visa application for each family member.
To sign up for an account:
- visit ec-riade.itamaraty.gov.br
- click on “IDIOMA” and select English (in the upper-right corner), and
- If you have a "CPF" number (Brazilian taxpayer ID), click on the blue button ("Enter with GOV.BR") OR
- If you don't have a "CPF" number, you can sign up for an account with your email address by clicking on “If you don't have a CPF (Brazilian taxpayer ID), click here to enter with email and password”
- Follow the prompts, fill out all required information, and validate your account with the code you will receive in your email.
HOW TO APPLY FOR SERVICES ON E-CONSULAR:
With your user account, you will be able to log in and apply for consular services. Follow the steps below:
Step 1. Log in.
Log in at ec-riade.itamaraty.gov.br, on your computer, smartphone, or tablet, using your account details. Upon first login, you may be asked to complete your personal details; go ahead and do so.
Step 2. Pick a service.
Click “CONSULAR SERVICES” and then on “NEW SERVICE”. You will see a full list of all services offered by the embassy (some of which will be in Portuguese only). Click on the service of your choice.
Step 3. Read the instructions.
Within each service, you will find, on the first page, a full set of instructions, including a list of required documents. Read the instructions carefully and gather all required documents.
Step 4. Fill out all required information and upload all required documents.
In each step of the application, you will be asked to fill out any required information and/or upload any required documents. You can upload scanned copies of your documents or simply take pictures of them, with the camera on your smartphone or tablet.
Step 5. Review your application details and submit it.
After going through all the steps for the service, filling out all required information and uploading all required documents, you will be prompted to review your application and submit it. If there is anything incorrect or missing, go back and fix it. Otherwise, click to confirm and submit your application.
Step 6. Wait for feedback from the embassy.
You will be notified by email when your application is reviewed by embassy staff.
If you are notified that there are mistakes or missing documents/information in your application, proceed to step 7.
If you are notified that your application has been approved or validated, proceed to step 8.
Step 7. Fix any mistakes or missing documents/information in your application.
Log back in to e-consular, click on your profile and on “CONSULAR SERVICES”. You will see your application with a prompt saying “REQUIRES ACTION BY APPLICANT”. Click “CONTINUE” and fix whatever is wrong with your application (highlighted in orange), following the feedback from embassy staff (also in orange).
Your application will be submitted for review again, with the updates and corrections you provided.
Step 8. Choose between scheduling an appointment (when available) or sending your documents to the embassy by mail/courier.
When your application is reviewed and approved, you will also be notified by email. Log back in to e-consular, click on your profile and on “CONSULAR SERVICES”. You will see your application with a prompt saying “VALIDATED, REQUIRES ACTION”. Click “CONTINUE”.
• If you applied for in-person service, you will be given the choice of dates and times to schedule an appointment at the embassy. Visit the embassy on the scheduled date and time, with all original documents required, to submit your application for processing. Your original documents and the new document you applied for may be collected at a later date at the embassy or shipped back to you by DHL.
• If you applied for service by mail, you will receive detailed mailing instructions and an application receipt (that must be printed and included in your envelope). Read the instructions carefully and mail all required documents to the embassy (through the courier of your choice). After your application is processed (processing times are available on the welcome page of e-consular), you will receive your original documents and your new document or visa by DHL. You will have to pay for the DHL delivery fee directly to the DHL representative upon delivery.
IMPORTANT: if the service you applied for offers both in-person or mail service, you will be able to choose your preferred option.
