Prevention of Violence Against Brazilian Women Abroad
The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched, together with the Ministry of Women, the booklet "Prevention of Violence Against Brazilian Women Abroad". The document contains guidelines and provides elements to identify the different forms of violence against women and details the means of protection and reporting offered by the government to Brazilian nationals outside the country, regardless of their migratory status.
The booklet covers the risks of virtual relationships with foreigners and internet scams that take advantage of vulnerable situations. The document also deals with the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, alerting Brazilian mothers abroad to the legal consequences of the international transport of children without the authorization of both parents.
The booklet contains contact information for the entire Brazilian consular network and explains what assistance can be offered, both by Embassies and Consulates and by the Women's Service Center (telephone number 180, in Brazil), available 24 hours a day, for Brazilian women abroad as well.
