Support for Translation and Publication of Brazilian Authors Abroad Program
This is the season for accepting applications to the Support for Translation and Publication of Brazilian Authors Abroad Program, and the Embassy of Brazil in Ottawa invites editors and publishers to submit projects via the Program’s e-mail: translation@bn.gov.br.
The Program, which contemplates annual competitions, offers partial or total funding of the translation of works by Brazilian authors. The funding is available to non-Portuguese-speaking publishing houses, editors and educational institutions, for the purpose of printing works by Brazilian authors, including literary works, fiction and non-fiction books, as well as comics and children’s books.
The expected financial support is between USD 1,000.00 and USD 6,000.00 for the translation of new or never release abroad works. Reissue projects may count on support of up to USD 3,000.00. In all cases, support is subject to acceptance of the project, with the proposing publisher being responsible for formatting and submitting the proposal.
Program regulations are available in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French, in the National Library Foundation website:
