Visitor Visas
All requests must be sent for analysis through the e-consular system. Only after they are validated, applicants must book an appointment to drop off the ORIGINAL documents.
Please note that there are two forms to be filled out online. The first one is for personal information at https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br/sci/pages/web/pacomPasesWebInicial.jsf . The second one is to submit your application to the Consular Section of the Brazilian Embassy in Ottawa at the E-consular System https://ec-ottawa.itamaraty.gov.br/services . Both are mandatory.
The Embassy will only receive your application after the second online form is submitted.

Canadians are currently exempted of a visa to VISIT Brazil for tourism or business purposes for up to 90 days.
Effective April 10th, 2025, Canadian citizens will need a visitor visa to travel to Brazil.
VISITOR VISA (VIVIS): aimed at those travelling to Brazil for maximum stays of up to 90 days, without the intention to establish residence, for the purpose of engaging in the following activities:
1. Tourism and transit;
2. Business (e.g. holding meetings, participating in corporate fairs and events, seeking commercial opportunities, signing contracts);
3. Non-corporate events (e.g.conferences, seminars, congresses, workshops, cultural meetings/fairs / events);
4. Auditing or consultancy;
5. Artistic or sports activities;
6. Study, supervised academic internship, academic extension programs, research or scientific cooperation;
7. Journalistic coverage, news reporting or filming;
8. Volunteer services;
9. Health treatment;10. Adoption;
11. Work as vessel or aircraft crew members, maritime workers;
12. Family reunion (on the grounds of marriage celebrated by power of attorney);
13. Other exceptional circumstances.

CITIZENS OF CANADA, AUSTRALIA, AND THE UNITED STATES PLANNING TO TRAVEL TO BRAZIL FROM APRIL 10TH, 2025, ONWARD WILL BE REQUIRED AN ELECTRONIC ENTRY VISA (E-VISA).
THE E-VISA APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED EXCLUSIVELY ON THE ELECTRONIC WEBSITE https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/.
THE TOTAL COST OF THE VISA IS US$80.90 (UNITED STATES DOLLARS), PAYABLE ONLY ON THE ELECTRONIC WEBSITE https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/ .

DO I NEED VISA TO TRAVEL TO BRAZIL?
- Based on the duration and the purpose of your trip, check whether you need a Visitor Visa (VIVIS) or a Temporary Visa (VITEM);
- Based on your nationality (passport you hold), confirm if a visa is required (‘Yes’) or if you benefit from visa waiver (‘No’);

a) Minor Travel Authorization Form signed by both parents or legal guardians. b) A copy of a document proving the relationship with the minor. Examples: one piece of I.D from each parent accompanied by the minor's birth certificate stating the parent's names; or parent's death certificate, when applicable; or a copy of a judicial document attesting the sole custody, when applicable. |

After receiving the physical documents, analysis and printing of the visas can take up to 10 (ten) working days. This does not include postage time for visas returned via mail.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
a) Visitor visa holders are prohibited to engage in paid work in Brazil. Nevertheless, the holder or a visitor visa may receive payment from the Brazilian government/a Brazilian employer or private entity as per diem, pro labore, lodging or subsistence allowance intended for the payment of their travel expenses; artistic pay; and prizes in cash in the context of artistic, cultural or sports competitions.
b) Visitor visas are good for multiple entries, yet authorized stays are for a maximum of 90 days per visit (if necessary, an extension may be obtained with the Federal Police in Brazil and must be requested prior to the expiration of the authorized stay).
