VIVIS
VISITOR VISA (VIVIS)
This type of visa is usually granted for the following activities:
- Tourism;
- Cultural, educational, sports or recreational activities;
- Family visits;
- Media/film coverage;
- To join aircraft or vessel as part of its crew;
- Travelers transiting through Brazilian airports to other countries, whenever the onward flight is booked under a separate ticket and/or different code;
Visitor Visas (VIVIS) are also granted in the following cases, among others:
- Performing voluntary work;
- Research, learning or academic extension activities;
- Health treatment;
- Adoption of a Brazilian minor;
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS
Please use the checklist of documents prepared by the Embassy as a reference.
The following documents might be required:
- Online Visa Application Form (RER) - signed by both parents, in the case of minors;
- Passport original and copy (signed , valid at least 6 months, at least 2 blank pages);
- Proof of financial capability of the applicant/parents/sponsos (such as bank statements of the past three months or ITR or paycheck slip);
- Passport-style photo compliant with ICAO requirements taken in the last 6 months;
- Flight tickets (booked itinerary showing entrance into and exit from Brazil);
- Personal Cover Letter with relevant information about the applicant and the intended trip;
- Hotel reservation or similar document;
- Where appropriate, invitation letter from the company or organiser of the event;
- Minors: Visa Authorization Form, signed by both parents and notarised. If the minor is travelling alone in Brazil, a Travel Authorization Form, signed by both parents, notarized and apostilled by the MEA, is also required.
For conferences, seminars and participation in tournaments or other events, the following documents must also be submitted:
a) If you are going to attend an event as a spectator, you must submit a proof of registration or a copy of the confirmation that you have signed up to attend the event.
b) If you have been invited to attend a conference as a speaker or a competition as a professional athlete/artist, and you are not going to receive any proceeds from a Brazilian source, you must submit a signed invitation letter issued by the event’s organizer. This document must provide detailed information about the event, including:
- Name of the institution organizing the event;
- Name(s) of the person(s) in charge of the event organization in Brazil, including phone number(s), position(s) and e-mail(s), in case further information is deemed necessary;
- Type/description of event;
- Dates and venue where the event will take place;
- Terms of your participation in the event.
As an alternative to submitting original documents with signatures notarised in Brazil, documents provided by an inviting sponsor can be signed digitally and sent via e-mail.
LENGTH OF STAY
The visa holder must not engage in remunerated work in Brazil (receive payment in exchange of work from a Brazilian tax identification number) and the activities must not exceed 90 days.
Extensions (in Brazil only): up to a further 90 days, adding up to a maximum of 180 days in any twelve-month period. Those willing to extend their stay should apply for extension at the closest office of the Brazilian Federal Police.
