Selection Process Notice No. 01/2024
1. The Selection Committee, appointed by the Ambassador of Brazil in Nicosia and in the use of its competence, announces that the applications to the selection process will be open in order to fill ONE (1) VACANCY of SUPPORT STAFF, pursuant to the Decree 1570, of 7/21/1995, and the Ordinance of September 12, 1995, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, and under the following terms:
2. EMPLOYMENT AND ASSIGNMENTS
2.1 The Support Assistance to the Residence is the local assistant hired to carry out the following activities at the official Residence of the Embassy of Brazil in Nicosia, including:
a) cleaning and organizing the house (inside and outside areas);
b) laundry, washing, ironing;
c) preparation of the shopping list;
d) receiving suppliers, visitors if necessary;
e) cooking assistance and
f) performing any other activities pertaining to the job.
2.2 The employee will perform their duties at the official Residence of the Embassy of Brazil in Nicosia, or as designated by the Ambassador of Brazil or by a representative authorised by him.
3. REMUNERATION
3.1 The initial gross salary will be 1,122.10 Euros (one thousand one hundred twenty two Euros and 10 cents) per month, subject to the compulsory social security and tax deductions required by local legislation. Additionally, a thirteenth salary (Christmas bonus) will be paid.
4. CONTRACTING REGIME
4.1 The present selection procedure is not a public tender, and the position of Support Staff is neither a public function nor a civil service.
4.2 The employment relationship shall be governed by the labour laws of the Republic of Cyprus.
4.3 The duration of the contract shall be for an indefinite period, according to the will of the parties. There shall be an initial paid trial period of six (6) months.
4.4 The hired support staff shall work forty (40) hours per week and, exceptionally, may be called upon to work on shifts or to work in situations of urgent service needs or emergencies.
4.5 The employment contract will come into force at the latest on July 1st, 2024, and will be permanent, after approval in the probationary period and in accordance with item 4.3 of this announcement.
5. QUALIFICATIONS
5.1 The candidate must:
a) be above the age of eighteen (18) years;
b) have completed either elementary or secondary education (high school); and
c) have knowledge of the Greek and English languages.
Note: knowledge of Portuguese is not compulsory, but highly desirable.
5.2 The candidate will be required to have two years of experience and recommendation letter by previous employers, when available.
6. HOW TO APPLY
6.1 Those interested in applying should forward to the Selection Committee, by e-mail or by post, to be received at the latest at the Embassy by May 2nd, 2024 at 14:00, the duly completed application form, available at the end of this announcement, together with the documentation listed below:
i. detailed CV and recommendation letter provided by previous employer, if any;
ii. copy of identity document (ID card);
iii. elementary or secondary studies (High School) completion certificate;
iv. valid negative certificate of criminal record issued no more than three (3) months prior to the application;
v. if the candidate is Brazilian or a third-country national, proof of regular residence status and legal permission to engage in a remunerated activity in the Republic of Cyprus are required.
vi. if the candidate is Brazilian, the following documents must also be presented:
a) declaration that the candidate knows that the job that is being applied for is not to be confused with employment or public function governed by the Brazilian legal system;
b) document proving regular status with the Brazilian electoral authorities;
c) declaration that the candidate is not an active civil servant and does not receive remuneration from the Brazilian government (this declaration is stated in the registration form itself); and
d) if male, document proving regular status with the Brazilian military service.
Note: The fact that a Brazilian citizen also has another nationality does not exempt such citizen from the obligations applicable to all Brazilian citizens, as listed above on item vi.

6.3 Documentation received after the deadline or in an incomplete form will not be considered. Only those candidates that present all the documentation requested in item 6.1 will be considered suitable.
6.4 The Embassy of Brazil in Nicosia will not sponsor any visa for this job. If the candidate is not a Cypriot citizen, he/she should already have a visa that allows full time work in the country.
7. SELECTION PROCEDURE
7.1 The selection process will comprise the following phases:
a) CV analysis;
b) written test
c) interview on suitability for the job;
7.2 In the analysis of the candidate’s CV, the Selection Committee reserves the right, on the basis of the documentation presented, to refuse the application of a candidate whose qualifications are not compatible with the job offered.
7.3 The candidates selected during the CV analysis phase will be informed on May 8th to participate in phase "b" listed in item 7.1(written test), on May 10th, 2024, in the morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00.
7.4 The written test will be applied on May 10th 2024 from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Embassy of Brazil, 14 Achaion Street, 1101 Nicosia. The test will consist of questions in Greek and English and in Portuguese optionally. The candidate must demonstrate a good command of Greek and English, and, if possible also have working knowledge of Portuguese. Housekeeping skills and experience as well as cooking knowledge are of vital importance.
7.5 The provisional list of successful candidates in the written test will be published on the website of the Embassy of Brazil in Nicosia (http://nicosia.itamaraty.gov.br) until May 14th, 2024 at 14:00. Candidates considered suitable will be contacted to take part in an interview (phase “c”) between the 21st and the 22nd of May, 2024 from 10:00 to 12:00. The time will be scheduled individually with each selected candidate.
7.6 The final overall score of the candidate, for classification, will be the sum of the score of the written test and interview.
8. REQUESTS FOR EXAMINATION AND APPEALS
8.1. Candidates may request to view their own exams and file an appeal without suspensive effect against the results of the exams, according to the schedule below. The deadline for filing appeals is forty-eight (48) hours after the provisional result announcement provided for in item 7.5 and should be done by e-mail to the Selection Committee at <brasemb.nicosia@itamaraty.gov.br>.
8.2. Appeals or requests for review submitted after the deadline or in a form different from that stipulated in this announcement will not be accepted.
8.3. The Selection Committee's decision on the appeals, which will be informed by May 17th, 2024 at 14:00, will be sovereign and final, and there will be no further appeal against the result of an appeal.
9. RESULTS
9.1 The final result of the selection process will be published until the date May 24th, 2024 at 14:00 and made available on the website of the Embassy of Brazil in Nicosia (http://nicosia.itamaraty.gov.br).
9.2 The selection process is valid for twelve (12) months as of the publication of the results. During this period, the successful candidates may be called upon, in strict accordance with the ranking order, should new vacancies arise in the same job category, whether on a temporary or permanent basis.
9.3 After the announcement of the results, the candidate classified in 1st place will be called by the Selection Committee to present, within 5 (five) calendar days, extendable for equal periods at the sole discretion of the Selection Committee upon a reasoned justification of the candidate, a certificate of physical and mental fitness for the job.
10. HIRING PROCESS
10.1 The hiring of the candidate ranked first for the initial six-month probationary period will be effective as soon as the procedures are completed and the necessary documentation for their admission is presented and conditioned to compliance with item 9.3 of this announcement.
10.2 In case of withdrawal or failure to comply with the deadline established in item 9.3, counted from the call date, the candidate will be excluded from the selection
process, and another approved candidate will be called upon to fill the vacancy, according to the strict classification order.
11. GENERAL PROVISIONS
11.1 The application for registration implies knowledge and acceptance, by the candidate, of all deadlines and rules established by this Notice. Candidates who make a false or an inaccurate statement, or who do not meet the conditions established in this notice, may be disqualified at any time.
11.2 If controversy arises with regard to other cases not mentioned in this document, the necessary decisions will be the attribution of the Selection Committee.
