Visitor Visa (VIVIS)

Take your time to read this guide carefully. The Embassy is not responsible for mistakes in your visa application and for losses related to travel expenses when applying for the visa or to your planned trip to Brazil in case your visa is refused, denied or not granted in time. Do not book rooms or tickets to Brazil before making sure you have the correct visa. Visa application fees are non-refundable by operation of law. Your application may be refused or denied if the requirements do not meet the specifications listed on this guide. The Embassy may request additional information if necessary. You may print this guide and tick each item as you gather the requirements.
You must submit all documents to the Embassy of Brazil in Nairobi through the e-Consular system.
Who can apply for a Visitor Visa?
The visitor visa may be granted to visitors who wish to travel to Brazil for a stay of up to 90 days without purposes of immigration or the exercise of paid activity (daily allowances, artistic paychecks, compensation or other travel expenses are allowed). Visit visas can be granted for those traveling for tourism, business, transit, artistic or sports activities, study, volunteer work, or to attend to conferences, seminars or meetings, among other purposes - provided there is no remuneration in Brazil and the stay does not exceed 90 days.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
a) Visa application form, signed and with passport-sized photo attached (click here for instructions);
b) Passport, valid for a minimum of six months after planned arrival in Brazil. Passport must have at least two blank pages. Applicant should bring all previous passports still in possession;
c) If applicant is not a national of one the countries in the Embassy's jurisdiction (Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Somalia), then they must provide Proof of Residence in one of said countries.
d) Personal presentation letter, signed, introducing the applicant and stating the purpose of the trip. Must include travel dates, duration/place of stay, and information on how the trip is being funded;
e) Proof of income for the duration of the trip (last 03 checking/ savings account statements or the last 06 Pay Stubs). If you do not meet this requirement, you will need a sponsor to sign an Affidavit of Support, and submit it with his/ hers signature and copy of the ID, notarized, together with his/ hers last bank 03 (three) statements;
f) Flight ticket reservation (round trip) containing the name of the passenger, itinerary, flight numbers and arrival/departure dates. Important: do not pay for the tickets whilst you do not have the visa. Alternatively, provide a Travel Declaration with intended travel dates;
g) Bank transfer or M-Pesa receipt of payment for the consular fee;
h) Hotel reservation (optional);
i) Invitation letter by friend or relative in Brazil, signed and certified by a public notary (optional);
j) Introduction letter from the applicant’s employer, school or sponsoring institution (optional);
k) For those participating in conferences, seminars, athletic or artistic events and competitions: an original invitation letter from the organizing institution in Brazil, signed and certified by a public notary, with information on the activities to be performed, location and duration of the event. The letter must state that the participant will not engage in any sort of paid employment in Brazi;
l) Any other documents that can confirm the purpose of the trip and the applicant's financial means to support the trip (optional).
FOR MINORS (THOSE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE)
All of the applicable previous requirements plus the following:
- Birth certificate
- Parents’ IDs
- Authorization For Issuance of Brazilian Visa For Minor* (Consent form)
- Affidavit of support*
*If one of the parents will not be present, his/ hers signature and a copy of the ID must be notarized
You must submit all documents to the Embassy of Brazil in Nairobi through the E-Consular system, for analysis and approval.
